Re: Help wanted. Wikipedia troll needs discipline...

HELP! After months of no one messing with my Dunjonquest page, suddenly the guy who took on PPOT seems to have come after my entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dunjonquest_%28series%29 Think it's payback for my 2 cents on PPOT? I think so. Hey, at least it's not "spe...

Re: Help wanted. Wikipedia troll needs discipline...

lol -if we were evil we'd nominate his stuff for speedy deletion. But that just keeps the vicious circle alive, and I wouldn't want to stoop their petty level. BTW, would anyone here mind taking the time to "review" a page I've had up for a while on the Dunjonquest series (Apshai, etc.)? Here's the ...

Re: The shape of the scene 10 years on

What can liven things up? One way is to get more people to play old C64 games so they hear the SID tunes on a regular basis and yearn for remixes based off of them. I try to accomplish this through my blog and podcast - introducing and re-introducing people to gaming on the C64, primarily (but not o...

Re: Help wanted. Wikipedia troll needs discipline...

I tried to help, don't know if you saw my contribs. I pointed out that the stubborn anti-all caps guy should do a Google image search on "c64 press play on tape" and note how the prompt was in fact in all caps, and that this was a decision on the band's part (my assumption) to simulate the screen pr...

Re: C64 Walkabout Podcast (#11, Realms of Quest Interview)

Khisanth - I actually bought a VIC-20 on Ebay just to play RoQ on the original hardware! :P Sadly my disk drives have not been as cooperative...so I've been playing it in emulation (I still love the cool packaging). Thanks again for the tips Jan --- went back to the show's original premise with my n...

Re: Commodore & Girls

bowchikawowow

"Typing on a C64 with no disks, carts or tapes attached is sooo much more exciting than what we usually do in bed."

Hey wait, they're missing a power cable too. Must be the sensual feel of the C64 keys.

"Mmmmm keyboard..."

Re: Whats the difference between a remix and a cover version?

"Cover" to me evokes the local band that does 1:1 Scorpion tunes AKA a "tribute" band. Like when Miley Cyrus does a cover of some 80's song. I'm not quite sure if the same applies when a musician takes an Ultima SID tune and then remakes it to sound "authentic" and less computer-ish. Here's a great ...

Re: C64 Walkabout Podcast (#11, Realms of Quest Interview)

I used to teach conversational English in Japan, Khisanth, so my guess from experience drumming up conversation is that Ghislain is a bit on the shy side, that's all. :) He was very excited about the call and suggested it himself -- we used talkshoe and that was his idea. I would love to do a show w...

Glad you liked it Kenz - I wish I had known more about the history of Psytronik sofware when I started talking about it. I'd be happy to do more like this one in the future..

Don't laugh too hard. The news song from Press Play on Tape reminded me a bit of this:

Very cool --- something about the music reminds me of fringe Japanese pop. :)

Really love that binary zone retro store, so glad I stumbled onto it! Shipping to the U.S. was not bad, either.
