So what's your approach to C64 music making?

Post by Commie_User »

I usually like methods 3-5 the best out of my own poll. Sometimes combined as part of a larger project compiled elsewhere, sometimes not.

Here's an updated picture of C64 #3, now I've got it all perfect:

I prefer working the software rather than working the computer. I'm not techy enough to really get to grips with the processor metal, though I do know I'm losing out on the total flexibilty.

Do you work solely on the 64, compose on it and port the data (MIDI or otherwise) to finish on the PC, or anything, or what?

PS - For the spirit, here is a nice copy of Music Maker 2. Very limited, but has some nice preset sounds and demo songs to enjoy:

Oh that's quite a setup!

I've been learning machine language for the C64 and I'm currently trying to write an arpeggiator but it's all emulated at the moment; I can't find the power supply for my C64, among other things :(

Coo, ta! I've loved the Commodore 64 as it was the first machine I really got into, though I did enjoy doing little programs in BBC BASIC at school too.

Hope you do well at the machine code. Above me now, so kudos (if that's the right word) to you.

And let's sort out your power supply problem. Best get in there quick: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-ORIGINAL- ... 286.c0.m14

Oh, and I hope you'll put up some completed music for us to enjoy as you're going along, so we can enjoy your progress.

(And nice site by the way. Only got two posts on it so far, but I like 'em.)
