Where do I actually GET the SID of this cracktro?

This copy of Ratterflatter has two examples of great hacktunes.

According to CSDb, the other AKG intros had music by 'Rock" of Finish gold..None for this intro though. Hmm Hunt goes on..

It certainly does. I even tried Waz's trick of poking around in the machine code monitor: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9948&p=94188

No luck. And that brings back the memory of possible dyslexia inducement, scrolling though the gobbledegook with the Action Replay when I was younger.

I*1000- [Return]

I did stuff like re-typing some text to 'steal' the font for printouts. Or type random stuff in the hope of something good, things similar to random code effects using my NES. I had some nice invinciblity in Bomb Jack once but never saved it. (Now I'm sampling, I should try that again.)

Anyway, I forgot the link to that Ratterflatter, if it matters: http://csdb.dk/release/?id=83377

And with Razmo's new keyboards and yen for work to do on 'em, I may harass him into covering the tunes instead. :)

Okay folks, I've sorted it. Here goes:

Intro tune 1 = /MUSICIANS/F/FCS/Neon_Nights.sid subtune #5

The subtune is by Rock but appeared in this demo which had tunes by FCS and Rock (more by FCS), hence it's in FCS's directory. It's also a hack into Ben Daglish's player, as the player code is the same, so doing a search for tunes based on that player also helped narrow it down a bit too.

Intro tune 2 = /MUSICIANS/N/Narciso/F_L_7.sid

Not hard from the instruments to tell that it's Future Composer either. A string search of the music data (located after the player) revealed that it was this one. Not a great tune to be honest, but at least you know what it is now.

Oh my Good GOD! What sorcery is this?

Thanks ever so much. All I can do in dumbfounded tribute is hand over this episode of The Computer Chronicles.

28 years later, the gear and concepts are still as mindblowing as this bit of detective work. They'll have to put your brain on storage media, you know that don't you? I still enjoy your BASIC cheat code listings.

You Da man Waz :) I used the Monitor in Vice64 to poke around a bit, was going to rip the Sid out, found the player routine but couldnt figure out how to save memory range back to disc so I gave up.

I used to do this stuff with my Final Cartridge III back in the day. :)
