Random codes for music use (NES Game Genie)

Post by Commie_User » 25/08/2011 - 19:40

I obviously can't wait for my MIDINES to arrive. Yup, I'm hitting the law of diminishing returns here but it's time to dig out the old games for some samplables before its arrival.

There are many good waveforms to take from NES games such as Batman, especially where sounds are affected with filters and effects. But homemade pokes can help generate rockin' 8-bit action.

Image

The NEStopia emulator can handle Game Genie pokes and there are planty of ROMs to find online. I came up with some of these codes today whilst others were rediscovered written in my codebook. Happy memories as well as my NES's kiss of life.

TROG: Enter literally anything to affect the sound. Well, you can on the console system anyway.

PAPERBOY:
IOPPIK, LUPPIK or KOPPIK - Variation of notes on delivery map screen.
XTPEGG - Interesting sound of delivery screen.

As with Trog, any random poke changes the in-game music slightly, oscillating the accompaniment.

BATMAN:
SOPKIS - Crash at start of game screen, holding on white-sounding noise.

SUPER OFF-ROAD:
NOOPEK - Crash before start of level, holding hiss and tone.
VULUSI - Different hiss frequency on crash.
IGEPOT + UYZZVU + LXZOII - More noise.
UYZZVU - Oscillating noise.

SUPER MARIO BROS.:
TGONLY - Drums abate a little.
PPPPPP - Rearranged tunes.
EOXNTI - Bell sound on coin collect.
VYVYAS - Scale down instead of up on mushroom.

Mix of first three - cut accompaniments and no tunes for sweet solo sound on coins.

SUPER MARIO BROS. 2:
EESEGL - Music runs slow.
LELALU - Misallocated (and knackered) level music.
PESEGL - Slow music dragged to a virtual standstill.
SESEGL - Slower tempo and winds down like a gramophone.
VESEGL - Mangled and slow music.
EESEGL + LELALU - More fun.
LALALA - Held noise on opening screens and FX only during levels.
LUNALU - Nutty 'avant garde' accompaniment.
SUPEZU - Victory music on intro before game freeze (sometimes with held note).
TUPEZU - Victory and other music all through game, plus truly interesting percussion on 'cave' sections.

SUPER MARIO BROS. 3:
KOPZPE - No music during Mario Bros. game, funny main game music, altered rompler.
SOPZPE - Avant Garde time again.
YEUZUGAE - Hammer Brother music intro without drums.
KUNTYL - No music on map screen (or just noise).
KUNTYS - Altered rompler, 'kaput' synth, plus 5-second held note on level start crash.
VOPZPE - Bird tweets, shredded rompler and other mangled oscillated sounds.
AOPZPE - Fire alarm.
PISSYL - 'Ringo' Mario as game crashes on map and drum samples alone roll.
KOPZPE + KUNTYL - Virtually FX only during play with shreds of incongruous and 'new' music. Well worth playing properly as the variety unlocks itself. (Just don't press B on map screen.)
POISPP - Jump to upper screen for repetitive music injury.

I'll be sure to add more later, even if I'm the only one reading. It was (and still is) great to mix and match these silly codes to affect the console's sound. Video cartridges may be the poor man's synth cards but with imagination you can get almost the same variety as you can with a proper box.

Great Super Mario 1 code I just threw together:

OZXLLV - Permanent fireballs, with new turbocharged fire when Fire Mario proper.

I have a stack of mindblowing codes I came up with when I was at school. Invinsibility, every coin and enemy killed a new life, funny levels, new colours, 'jet flight' Mario, fewer enemies, play demo screen, etc.

No wonder Nintendo screamed like little bitches when Galoob first unveiled their new toy! Bit like Microsoft in that respect.

Looks like I'm not the only obsessive: http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/faqs/

Extra MARIO 2 music codes: http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/faqs/mario2.txt

EPSETA-Bass is screwed up.
EKOETI-Drums are screwed up nicely.
EIKEPS-Bass is odd.
EKIEPS-Wonderful code which switches drum samples and sfx. Just listen to
the character select music! [I have this effect somewhere in my codes too, but where? Though mine doesn't ruin the game.]
EKAEPS-Title like EKIEPS. Also a behavioral code.
EPOPPI-Plays wart music.
KPIEPK-Music sustains longer between scenes. Also a graphics code. Also a
behavioral code.
EKPEPS-Drums slow to off.
EPKEPK-Music starts early. Also a graphics code. Also a behavioral code.
AEKEPK-Bizarre music alteration!
KAAEPK-Great weird music! Also a great behavioral code.
KATEPK-Like the clarinet code for mario 1. [Freezes game with fantastic FX]
EPOEPI-Like the mario 1 banjo code.
EPOPEI-Some instruments cannot keep up.
EPOPOI-Similar to EPOPEI.
EPOPOS-Similar to EPOPEI.
EIKPOZ-Freezes, but music continues with odd drum samples.
KIGOPE-Odd intro.
EKAAAE-No harmony parts.
KOTAGE-No harmony.
ELGOPE, EGGOPE, EAGOPE, AAGOPE, ZAGOPE, EIGOPE, EYGOPE, GGGOPE, TIGOPE,
EAGOPE-All these codes screw up the beginning of the pregame music amazingly,
but none of them last for more than 20 seconds. They always make a perfect
transition into boring normal level music. I need codes which do this kind
of thing without ever resuming normal music.
IANOXG-Certain parts are doubled and track oddly.
PEGELI-Drums slow/off.
XZZOEK-Certain notes sustained longer.
ELKELG-Great noise when you die. Also a behavioral code. I need a code
which, when you die, does not resume the level so this music can go on
longer.
ELKELS-Title music is odd. Freezes.
ALKELI-No bass, some parts are scrambled.
PLKELI-Bass is playing all the wrong notes.
GENPAS-Great freeze with strange music/sfx blend.
GLKELI-Weird bass.
EIKELI-No bass, parts screwed up.
EGKELI-Bass screwed up.
EGKELS-Nice-sounding freeze.
EZKELI-Weird bass.

KPIEPO-Mario can control enemies with B. Also an SFX code. Also a graphics
code.
EPIEPO-Like KPIEPO except it also affects SFX differently. Also a graphics
code. Also an SFX code.

EKKELV-The sound effects for jumping and climbing change. Also a graphics
code.
KPIEPO-Changes effect for character selection. Also a graphics code. Also a
behavioral code. [Actually, on UK game anyway, Mario is trapped underground after throwing, with various FX going each time B hit. Good for sampling with music switched off.]
EPIEPO-Just like KPIEPO but the sound effect for throwing keeps changing.
Also a behavioral code. Also a graphics code.
PPIEPO-Changes character select effect. Also a graphics code.
OPIEPO-Changes character select effect. Also a graphics code. [Use with my PESEGL to virtually switch off music for great varying solo FX to capture - plus SUPER HIGH JUMP, though game can crash on level one if not completed through the cave.]
XPIEPO-Changes character select effect. Also a graphics code. Also a level
altering code.
IKAAAE, PKAAAE-Constant effect is going all the time.
EEAAAE-Mario does not make that falling noise at the beginning of the pregame.
IGEAPO-Sound effects for shrinking are odd.

_______________________________________

http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/faqs/mario3.txt

EPZXVL-This code will freeze the game and leave the music playing. Great for
listening to codes below work without the hindrance of a time limit.
ALSUZI-Another eternal music code.
TVLLLL-Another eternal music code.
OOOVYU-This is the archetype music code for mario 3. The first level music
is nothing special, but 2 on is simply incredible! It is almost the same
every time you run the code...the resultant music is so complex you will
think it is intentional! I have never heard a NES utter these kinds of
sounds before. [Crashes at level 2, warp whistle at Toad's house, World 4 pipes and Hammer Bros. actually. Use my code YEUXKGAA to bypass level 2 to hear these EXCELLENT new bits. ]
OOOVYN-Map music sounds like melody has a hard time keeping up with drums,
level music effects are same as EEEVYN.
OOOVYI-Melody of map music sustained longer, sounds like a pure sine wave,
and melody of level sustained as well.
OOOVYS-Similar to OOOVYI.
KKKVYU-The music is normal except for the bass part, which is very odd.
EKKVYU-Similar to KKKVYU, with small differences.
PEKVYU-Also similar to KKKVYU.
TOKVYU-same story.
TTTVYU-On the map screen, a music "sampler" will play which goes through
first small cuts (time up, hurry up, finish level) music and then goes once
through each map's music. Next is the finishing game music. Music box music
follows, with strange noises accompanying it, and it eventually degenerates
into wonderful strange noises. Check this out! [Also preceded by brief map screen silence bar user FX. Also good with my PISSYL code.]
EEEVYU-A sampler within a level, running through all normal level music, and
going into a beautiful fast noisy rave-up! [Finish level before 'noise' or game will crash.]
EEEVYN-Map music is just bass and drums, certain notes in level are sustained
longer.

AALVYU-Slows down all map and level music except for certain levels, like 1-1
and 1-5, which sound fantastic. Let me know if you find other great-sounding
levels. [Toad House could be a basis for a basic track.]

AALVYN-Affects map and levels, makes drum samples trigger so fast they become
strange grinding and humming noises. Let me know of any other effects you
notice.
ANLVYU-Freezes upon entering a level, but makes odd crashing noise over and
over again. Sounds like you are being chased by the mechanical Hitler in
Wolfenstein 3d.
YYYVYU-Music periodically stops, then starts again.
NNNVYU-Freezes the game and makes a wonderful grinding noise.
NNNVYS-The harmony part on the map screen is sustained. Freezes when you try
to enter a level.
XUNXUN-Affects drum part on map music. This also makes your timer just the
ones digit, occaisonally with arcane symbols replacing the other digits.
Level music is normal.
YUYXUN-Affects map music slightly, and adds another level 2 to map.
YXYXUN-Like YXYXUN with different sound inserted.
YEYXUN-Like YXYXYN with different sound.
YOYXUN-same idea.
VYYXUN-One part of map music gets out of time with rest.
OYLXUN-One part of map melody slows down.
OYYXUN-Similar to OYLXUN. In addition, game freezes seconds after entering a
level, making it another ideal "infinite music code".
EPOXUN-After passing first pipe in 1-1, game freezes but occaisonal drum
sample is triggered. After an indefinite time interval, only the drum part
resumes at full speed, but with strange touches you will NOT hear in the game
normally.
YYLXUN-First level map music is FANTASTIC!
YYYXUN-Different first level map music.
OPOXUN-The aforementioned graphic code also affects the music. When you
trigger a sound effect like getting a mushroom or being shrunk, the game
appears to freeze. Wait, however, and you will see that the effect is slowed
down greatly, with pleasing audio results.
AOLUZI-Makes music "skip" occaisonally.
AESUZI-Adds tom sample to melody, also interferes with graphics.
VVLLLL-Makes wonderful noise for about one second, then freezes :( I need
a code which will do this without stopping the music!
VVLLLI-Level melody off-time, mario bounces when he walks.
KVLLLL-Freezes game and makes different noises.
EEOXUN, EOOXUN, EXOXUN-These freeze like EPOXUN, but resume the drum track
instantly.
EPOXUN+VVLLLL-An interesting combination.
AOLUZI-The music is altered and skips.
NAXULT-There are lags between different sections of the music, and it
occaisonally changes slightly.
AOZXEL-Occaisonally when this freezes, the drums will resume as in EEOXUN.
POVXXL-Infinite music code.
OXTVYZ-A wonderful code which switches some of the drum samples around.
OXTVYT, OXTVYV-Either of these codes make some wonderfully dissonant map
music.
OXTVYI, OXTVYS-Either of these codes take the harmony, bass, and half the
melody out of the map and level music.
OXTVIT, OXTVIV-Either of these codes change the sample for the hihat.
OXTVYP-Makes incredible map music, and adds extra hihat to the levels.
OXTVGT-Changes the drum samples on the map and in the levels.
OXTVYN-A nice-sounding and cool-looking freeze.
OXTVPZ-Different fantastic dissonant map music.
OXTVGZ-Changes the samples of some of the drums.
OXTVGN-Changes the music of the entire game so that only one note is played
in rhythm over and over. Really fun at first, but you can only take so much.

OXTVPT-Incredible code! Map music level 1 is fantastic. Extra hi-hat,
beeping, notes added. Level music similarly affected. Sometimes there are
no drums in the level music at all. Try this out!

OXTVZT-Like OXTVPT, but no extra notes are added.
OXTVYT-Like OXTVPT, but no extra hi-hat is added.
OXYVPT-In the map and level there is no hi-hat.
OXAVPT or OXEVPT-In the map and levels the bass is playing very oddly.
OXPVPT-On the map and in the levels the bass is almost not present.
OXLVPT-No bass in map, levels.
OXKVPT or OXGVPT-On the map, there is no hi-hat, and an extra snare of some
kind is being played out of rhythm. In the levels, there is a crash on every
beat being played with some weird samples. Nice code.
XLYXUN-Certain parts in map music malfunction.
XXYXUN-Hihat in level music goes crazy!
XXXXUU-Yet another infinite music code.
ESSVYN-Fantastic dissonant funky map music! One of the best codes.
EASVYN-Only bass and drums on map, sustains certain parts longer in level.
EEEVYN-Same as EASVYN, but different things are sustained.
ESZVYN-The sound effect of mario jumping is different.
ESSVAN-Fantastic code. On the map, an all-drum all-star rave-up with sparse
bass playing octaves, but freezes in the level.
ESSVLN-Fantastic. Demented music. All pitches replaced. Sounds random in
some sections, but it is the same each time. Sounds really cool underground
(as in 1-5.)
ESSVTN-Similar to ESSVYN, but slightly different. Listen to the beginning of
level 1 map music!
ESAVAN-Doubles certain instruments, adds sustain, makes music in map
"fuller." Also adds stuff similarly to level music.
ESPVAN or ESOVAN-Minor changes in the map-sustains the last note of each
phrase. Also does the same in levels.

ESTVAN or ESVVAN-Kind of like a combination between ESSVYN and ESSVLN which
does not freeze when you enter a level, but works its magic there as well!

EAAVAN-Snare and other non-hi-hat samples are off.
VTPVAN-Affects both map and level music. Takes out some drums, adds more
kick, and adds weird static to the music.
TTTVAN-Small alterations to map music, but level music is fantastic, similar
to ESAVAN with major differences.
YYYVAN-Like ESAVAN but with an even fuller sound.
NUYVAN-The hi-hat stops playing on the map.
XXLXUU-Music odd when you die. Also a graphics code. Also a behavioral
code.
ESSXUU-Music odd when you die. Also a graphics code. Also a behavioral
code.
SSSXUU-Music odd when you die. Also a graphics code. Also a behavioral
code.
PTVUYS-Music at the beginning of 1-1 is warped.

http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/faqs/mario1.txt

NGGNAY-creates interesting music from all songs (loops several notes and
plays various bass parts over this) - Use with PPPPP for extra fun, plus silence on cave levels and strange random bits at 'starman', castle, game over and less than 100 on clock.
NIGNAY-takes the DrumMix (explained later) and inserts pauses into it
YAGNAY-plays briefly some of the end-game music and then stops-only works
occaisonally
OGGNAY, XGGNAY, UGGNAY, KGGNAY, EGGNAY-All of these are similar to NGGNAY,
but each is different from the rest.
STAPTO-Music stops immediately.
PPPPPP-Various tunes are switched around.
EGXNAY-Drums are off-time. Also a graphics code.
YYYVYU-When you stomp an enemy, music goes through several variations.
KOTAGE-No sound at all.
PIPPPP-Plays invincibility music constantly.
PAPPPP-Loops normal music constantly.
POZPIS-When you interact with blocks, enemies, the music screws up.
NAGNAN-Music skips.
NYGNAG-Music skips.
AGGNAY, ZGGNAY-One instrument plays some wrong notes on a sine wave.
GGGNAY-Same as AGGNAY but with banjo sound.
POTPIE-Freezes with great grinding noise.
EOPOPE-No music. Also a graphics code.
APPPPP, PPPPPP, TPPPPP-Mixed-up music.
EPPPPP, LPPPPP, SPPPPP, NPPPPP-Weird music.
ZPPPPP, GPPPPP, VPPPPP-No music.

KPPPPP-Fortress music.
SKINIT-Between-level music.
UNVUXV-Repeating music.
STOPPP-Starman music.
PGOPGO-No music.
TGOOIG-Remixes on the fly.
YGOOIG, TAOOIG, TPOOIG, TZOOIG, TLOOIG, TYOOIG-These all do fantastic
remixing which depends on what mario does!
EPONLY-Fragmented music; some instruments off-time.
PISNLY-Music stops immediately.
NZXNLY-Trance remix. [Crash on start with held 'oboe' sound actually.]
NLXNLY-Similar remix.
AEENLY, ZEANLY-Sound effect music freakout!
NVXNLY, SEXNLY, XXXNLY, Adds a short-decay instrument (like a terrible synth
banjo sound) playing the melody.
OZXNAY, NZXNAY, EPXNAY, APXNAY-All these make the drums off-time in various
ways.
PPPNLY-Music starts and stops frequently.
EPPNLY, APONAY, TVYNLY, EPONLY-All these make the melody off-time and the
music starts and stops.
PPENLY, NZANLY, NZENLY-All these make the bass strange.
ZLLNLY, NZYNLY, NTXNLY, NYXNLY, NZNNLY, NZXNPY, NZXNZY-All these codes make
really cool remixes of the music with extra drums.
ZOANLY, ZXENLY-The melody is turned off.
NUNNLY, YVYNLY, VNNNLY, UUUNLY-If the mario/duck hunt cart is in, these will
first make weird slow interpretive ballad music and then go into a warped
duck hunt with the coolest music you've ever heard!!! If the cartridge of
just mario is in, that ballad music will continue.
NANNLY, PZZNAY-Drums off-time, melody slow/off.
YLYNLY, GINNLY-Music skips frequently.
NSXNLY, NNXNLY, SUXNLY-Adds a pure, no decay sine wave (like a synthesized
clarinet) playing the melody. [Some accompaniment gone actually, bass alone in caves.]
NUXNLY, NXXNLY, IOXNLY-Adds another melody sounding more like an oboe.
TZXNLY, NIXNLY, NGXNLY-Every instrument is odd or skipping.
NZXNUY, NZXNOY, NZXNSY-Makes one note more prominent.
EPONAY, EPONEY-Strange fragments of all songs and instruments.
NEXNLY-Soft clarinet melody.
NZONLY, NZPNLY-Strange transitions between sections of music.
NIGNAY-Start/stop minimal music.
PPONAY-Fragments of normal music.
YEANLY-Like ZEANLY.
YVONNE-Makes great noise.

Funky!

JUNK CODES

Mario 3 -
NOZZYN - Can crash when after power up, yet with differing FX results every time (or simple reset).
VOLLYN - Variation on above.
XOZZYY - After power-up, game crashes yet music continues.
SOZZYY - Landscape can momentarily vanish; slightly increase the handicap for seasoned players.
IOPAGG - Black polished floor on curtain-up giving turtles a wonderful shiny shadow.

Maybe I'm not quite hitting the limits of diminishing returns after all. Great synth effects, drumbox rhythms and layered tones to rape before re-enforcements have even arrived. And the boxy NES even looks studio-ey too. A rising compliment to proper computer the C64.

Even I must have enough to play with by now, though having a random bash is always a tempt. If I thought anyone other than myself was using them, I'd put down the ones from my book too. If it's this good now, I'm gonna go orgasmic when MIDINES arrives - especially if it can oscillate and things.

It's fun just to mess about. Go on, do it with the emulator too.

ZOPKIS - Winged nasties grounded.
GOOZXL - Spasm Mario.
POOZXL - St. Vitas Dance Mario.

More for the anals of Mario 3 history. Though I still can't quite believe it's been 20 years already.

MARIO 2:

PEPEPE - Descending scroll in smaller increments, plus cool sunshades for cave creatures.
PEPEPA - Scrolled descents continuous yet jerky.
PEPEPI - Alternate, minimal percussion for intro music. Can't get to game though.

PEPEPK - FANTASTIC percussion to music, yet can't play game.
PEPEPL or PEPEPU - Rolling music sampler.

GHOSTBUSTERS 2

aivvzz - straight to driving level

stxzoi - held sound start lvl 1. First letter change for variation.
toppsy - extra slow level music before crash. First letter change (z) for variation

sppeek - knackered player select music. First letter change (t,e, etc.).
zxxzzo - Crash with high to low sweep, often with noise. Different each boot. (Plus text: Monday, January 1, 1990 50c Happy New Year.)
zulvoo - pulsating hum on crash

From just this small crop I've gained a drum sample, dual octave C sample and other odds and ends. Fun synthy pads.

Funny noises are just what's needed for sampling, complementing MIDINES and VSTi. (Emulator use can also help seperate noise from wanted portion.) That and the extra random rhythms and tunes to inspire me further.

NES game reviews: http://videogamecritic.net/nes.htm

KICKLE CUBICLE

Good enough noises to sample without random codes.

Extra:

TINY TOON ADVENTURES

Bit crap though. Even I wouldn't really rely on it.

NES Game Genie random sound codes for NOAH'S ARK

Post by Commie_User » 22/06/2012 - 18:13

Proper codes: http://gscentral.org/codelist.php?sys=3 ... e=11818257

http://gamehacking.org/ugetab/RoughGenie/gg_nes.html

ETSEGI - Nice backwards notes and can hover through level.

YTSEGI - Fall and die with longer, wobblier arpeggio.

PTSEGI or PPOOTV - Crash and held note.

ZXYSTZ - Crash and held chord.

STSEGI - Funny crash; held note with declining scale.

EPOOTV - Held note with upward scale.

KISTZO - Solo pause sound (when pressed) and single FX.

TOZXIL - Altered level melody.

Change first two letters for further alternates, such as POZXIL, KOZXIL,
TKZXIL or LXZXIL. Solo'd channels on emulator to mix and match.

EPOOTK - Freezes action to let sound play uninterrupted. Good for above.

UYIEEE - Extended glitchy sounds after death. Nice for sampling.

GKPOTV - Freeze and held sound; same with IOPOTV, GGSZZX or PKPOTV. Also better with split channels on emulator.

POVNLL - Weirdly altered level.

ZXYXZZ - Change of crab enemies.

LINK 1:

STAGEO - all enemies throw hammers! (use this for a challenge!)
VALLEY - enemies only move left.
KIPAXI - weird castle levels
OZTLLU - Mario mimes walking against the wind when you press A.
YPAIIU - always get 3 fireworks.
NAPSIN+AETVEN - once you get a fire flower, press B and all the enemies on the screen die!
NNPOPK - Sky world - fall in a hole and get coins!
*KTIPEK - Black and white world except for pipes and trees are orange. Mario walks until he reaches a pipe and is stuck.
*IIPOPK - Brick floor with no background
*NNINTV - Beep starts each level. Land music is the same, but no music plays in caves, and a high-pitched never-ending beep in the water worlds.
*NATUTV - Slow Mario, jumping on enemies kills you!
*STYYLY - 1-1 has weird music. At the end of level 1-1, end music plays, game freezes.
*_TPAUL - Fill in space with different letters and you get a variety of different squares as your background.
*POEYPO - Mario is invincible, but you can't see him!
*YEAAAA - This makes the stuff that happens in the PIGPOG code look normal. We're talking weird stuff, background color changes, numbers flooding the screen, making the game slow down a LOT. If at first, it freezes after a little bit, try it again because the stuff it does is random.
AAGOPO - Mario can swim everywhere, and you start some worlds about 1/2 way thru. By changing the first letter to P,Z,L, or G, you can adjust where you start the levels. If you change the first letter to a "G", then you will start some worlds right next to the flag pole! (and mario can swim!)
PAZSKO - Once you turn into Fire Mario, you will always be able to shoot fireballs, even if you turn small again (until you die). Also, if you touch an enemy, it will make you power-up!!
AETLTK - Jump as high as you want!

VVAANY - Timer counts up instead of down!! This code basically gives you as much time as you want to finish a level. The longer you take to finish a level, the more points you get at the end!!
VTTNYA Mario skates like gumby
VGANYA Mario always walks crouched down
VTLNYA Mario turns big when he walks
UATIUA Mario walks right thru enemies
VGANZA Little mario turns big when he jumps
VGANPA Big mario turns little when he jumps
VTLNGA When little mario walks, he turns big, little, big, little, big, little, etc...
NEPELA Play as Game Boy mario (everything is black & white).
NTPOLE Everything is offset by about 2 inches
NTPOLT Everything is different, plus castle is missing at end so Mario keeps walking forever.
SSASSA Invincibility! Let an enemy touch you and see what happens.
PIGOAP Swim without water (you're always swimming)
*GAYSUK - On a ledge, get a running start and you can run off the ledge in mid-air!
UATIUE Invincibility! Mario walks right thru enemies.
TAZUIG Mario has some hang time when you jump while running normally
SSSAPE Drunk Mario.

AETLIK Super mega jump, standing start only. If you try to jump while running, you can barely jump at all. But jumping when standing still, lets you jump as high as you want! If you hold down the button for 3 minutes, Mario will keep climbing higher, and higher for 3 minutes! The clock even stops running! Then, if you let go of the button, it will take Mario 3 more minutes to fall back to the ground!
GETLYG Mario has semi lunar descent. This means that when you jump, you float back to the ground instead of just droping. This code works for standing, running, or turbo running.
SYLOGK Mario swims instead of walking in all blue background worlds.
YETLYG Mario has variable jump heights. Sometimes he jumps high, sometimes low.
EAZLIT Mario can't shoot
ZZZLTT Permanent fire power
TELLEY Mario Falls up.
PEKEIE What happened to Mario???
PEKEIE-POGAAI-ZEKAEP What happened to Mario????
EAEAEA You can't see your lives. You can jump on turtles
KAAEPO You can jump on turtles multiple times.
AAZLGK Super mega moon jumps from a standing start.
PXTLLX-AATLGZ-SZLIVO Always stay small and you cant get hurt.

NXUASX Whenever you hit a box or break a brick a green box appears.
VVVEEP Dark monsters and coin boxes don't flash.
PKAOZP Always stay mega invincible but sometimes you die when you beat a level on a flag pole.
NNVKEE Monsters follow you but can't hurt you.
STATIO Sometimes Goombas act weird.
LUGLUG Mushrooms and stars lug around.
PEOAAA The game goes directly to Duck Hunt.
ZIOAAP Weird Mario but you can only move back and forth at one spot.
UEXLEY When you jump and hit something it appears in the sky.
GAUAXU "Cs" appear.
YAUAXU "Fs" appear.
OSLEXY Mushrooms stars and enemies fly! Fire flowers float!
ANTOSA - Ever have trouble remembering which pipes you can and can't go down? Well, this code solves that problem! The pipes you can't go down are upside-down, the pipes you can go down are normal.
PIATYP -Enemies can go thru pipes, walls, and blocks! Mario (as usual) can't go thru pipes, walls, or blocks. This code really changes the way you play SMB.
TSPIIT All enemies are gone!
AALLEY Most enemies are frozen!
APZPVG Mixed up enemies
SEPPIS Long row of coin boxes
XVXOKK Different enemies
_KGEKG plug in anything at first part of code to change colors of bushes and pipes.
AUNYGP Enemies go wrong way and are in wrong spots sometimes

GPPPOI More Koopas than the code GPPPOS gives
AKKOOT + IEEGGP + NULTKA Turns Enemies into Toad
POEISA Touching an enemy powers you up (and gives you 1000 points)

YSAOPE + YEAOZA "Level Select" code!! Lets you start on any world you want! Here is how to get to the level select screen: When you first start out, you are in a new world (0-1) and you have to finish this level to get to the level select screen. Here's how: Swim (yes swim) past the first pipe you see and keep going until you see some water at the bottom of the screen. Swim over the top of the blocks that are above the water, but not too far. Then swim down and backwards a little to drop down through the little opening in the blocks that lets you get to the bottom of the screen. This part is very important because if you aren't at the bottom part of the screen, you won't be able to finish the level. Once you get to the lower part of the screen, just keep going to the end of the level. When you get to the end, it will say "Thank You Mario, but our Princess is in Another Castle". To get the game to continue, you have to press "B". Now your at the "Level Select" screen! Just press "B" until you see the world you want (at the top of the screen), and then press "Start".

LEAOGK Opens route to minus world! (at end of 1-2)
NTPOPT Almost a solid row of coin blocks and tubes in 1-1.

AXAENT Invisible worlds. See how good your memory is.
ASTETE Play at night

EGAPEI - World 1-2 is weird. Enemies delayed, go in end pipe and begin over again.
TTPOZG 1-1 has stuff from other worlds.
TPPOZG 1-1 is very different and much longer than normal. Also, if you die, when you come back, your at the flag pole, and after you jump on the pole, you keep on going past lots of neat stuff, and then you fall down a hole and the game starts to freak out. (It's never the same.)
SAGOOK The water level, only you don't swim. The coral is composed of the bricks, and there are goobmas, turtles, and bullet bills. The background is the water, only light blue, like sky. The pits are impossible to cross without a high jump code (since they were meant to be swam over). I think after you get to the pipe, the next level crashes.

The first time you die, you will change from big to little, as usual. The second time you die, you will change from little to big. Other cool things you can do with this code:
Have fire power when you are small.
You don't lose your fire power or invincible power when you die from enemies (that is when you change size). You do, however, lose those powers when you fall in a pit.
Easily change size just by killing yourself.

Game Genie codes for Super Mario Brothers 1-2-3

I created most of the music codes for Mario 1 and almost all of the codes for
Mario 2 and 3. Credit is given where known, but this is hearsay and as
such it is not terribly accurate.

However, thanks to dml@localnet.com, tsr@atarihq.com, and Nintendo Power
for compiling many of the Mario 1 codes which were featured on tsr's NES
archive in the FAQs section, in a file titled Super Mario Bros-The Stupid
File. Some Mario 1 codes come from the SMB Game Genie Page on NES WORLD.
A few of the Mario 2 and 3 codes come from: NESJournal #3, NESJournal
#5, and Jesse Smith's game page.

Disclaimer: These codes were all tested on my CARTRIDGE of the Mario games.
They will not necessarily work in an emulator. The music codes will probably
not work at all on an emulator, since NESTICLE does not do a very good job
of emulating NES sound.

Re: Random codes for music use (NES Game Genie)

Post by Commie_User » 03/12/2012 - 0:38

Last one. Hope nobody minds all these codes but the number of dead links I've seen now. I just want all these in one place to at least print off....

MARIO 1:

AZAEGT - Mario shadow
EZEEGT - Mario darkie
EZEEGV - Clown Mario, etc.

NUNNLY - Start Mario, hit box for mangly random Duck Hunt screwup tune.

MARIO 3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeL3ib0oTJg

NSEZZE - Audio glitches aplenty.
KKKZSPIU - Other worlds.

SNAZTS - Nasties in power blocks.

CODES VIDE-ARCHIVE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAGkANf0 ... 84411F442E

GETZZA
YUUZUU
PETZZA
KOSUZI
AOSUZI

EPZXVL-This code will freeze the game and leave the music playing. Great for
listening to codes below work without the hindrance of a time limit.
ALSUZI-Another eternal music code.
TVLLLL-Another eternal music code.
PUUUOT-Another eternal music code.
OOOVYU-This is the archetypal music code for Mario 3. The first level music
is nothing special, but 2 on is simply incredible! It is almost the same
every time you run the code...the resultant music is so complex you will
think it is intentional! I have never heard a NES utter these kinds of
sounds before.
EEEVYU-A sampler within a level, running through all normal level music, and
going into a beautiful fast noisy rave-up!
EEEVYN-Map music is just bass and drums, certain notes in level are sustained
longer.
EEEVLU-Like EEEVYU but starts with swimming music.
AALVYU-Slows down all map and level music except for certain levels, like 1-1
and 1-5, which sound fantastic. Let me know if you find other great-sounding
levels.
AALVYN-Affects map and levels, makes drum samples trigger so fast they become
strange grinding and humming noises.
*ESSVAN-Fantastic code.
Also a behavioral
code.

KKTZGO-Great musical intro to level.
KKTZZA, KKTZZE-No harmony, half the melody is gone, great sound effects and
warped music. This strange music reminds me of the elevator "music" from

other codes, I will refer to it as metroid music.

Graphics Scramblers

The set of these codes is a subset of the set of Graphics Codes
which basically do the same things as each other. They replace certain
sprites with others. For example, the left corner of a piranha plant pipe
may be replaced with a section of undulating waves. As a result, descriptions
are hard to make for each one. I have asterisked or otherwise indicated my
favorites, but try them all out and give them your own descriptions.

GAEOXG-A wacky graphics scrambler.
*AALLLL-A great graphics scrambler. Mario also appears to be underground.
PIGPSK-An uninteresting g.s.
*ZIGPSK-A great g.s.
*ZAGPSK-A great g.s.
*ZZGPSK-A great g.s.
*OGAOKK-A fantastic g.s., similar to the OSTENA family of Mario 1.

*LIZONK
YOOPIT-scrambles on the fly
EOOPIT-scrambles on the fly
TIKPOG-blue void with colored patches.
SPPPOG-stripes.
SPPPNK
SIPPNG
VVVOKK-colored patches on scenery.
SSSOKK-criscrossing colored patches.
IIIOKK-All corners, flickers.
PPPOKK-Mostly corners.
AAAOKK-Great, similar to the OSTENA family for Mario 1.
ZZZOKK

ESSOXU
APPPEK
OOOZZZ-A minor scrambler.
PKZZZO
KSZPKK-Stripes and patches of color.
PIGPEG-Replaces most of the background with bars of color.

The OKK family of graphics scramblers is analogous to the OSTENA family
in Mario 1. The following are all the codes I have tested, and a formula
for generating similar scrambler codes follows the list of codes.

KGAOKK XGAOKK LGAOKK UGAOKK GGAOKK IGAOKK SGAOKK VGAOKK YGAOKK NGAOKK
PAAOKK AAAOKK APAOKK AZAOKK ALAOKK AIAOKK ATAOKK AYAOKK EAAOKK EPAOKK
EZAOKK ELAOKK EIAOKK ETAOKK EYAOKK PAAOKK PPAOKK PZAOKK PIAOKK PTAOKK
OAAOKK OPAOKK OIAOKK ZAAOKK ZPAOKK ZZAOKK ZLAOKK ZIAOKK ZYAOKK XAAOKK
XPAOKK

Formula for generating similar graphics scramblers:
1st letter can be any letter
2nd letter can be A, P, Z, L, G, I, T, or Y
3rd letter should be A
4rth letter should be O
5th letter should be K
6th letter should be K or G

Music Codes

Even if you are not interested, try these out anyway. These are the
codes I spent the most time and energy compiling, and I love them like
children :) Anyway, give them a try.

Failed Codes (may affect some cartridges)

These codes are ones I have found, tested, and did not discover the
effect listed. If you achieve any effects from these codes or variations on
them, good for you.

KUKXGLIE-Description reads "Flying Mario."
POPOPO-No description available
SISTEK-Description reads "Goomba illusions."
GLOOZS-Description reads "Secrel level." I assume they meant secret.
ZXLLUN-Description reads "Mega fast run."
GOZZOS-Description reads "All black except for Mario."
PZLZXS-Description reads "Hit a block, and will appear somewhere in the
level. Also, when you die, you can play levels you beat already over and
over again."

ALL THESE CODES ARE YOURS. USE THEM TOGETHER. USE THEM IN PEACE.

Game Boy music use random codes (Game Genie / Action Replay)

Post by Commie_User » 26/04/2014 - 22:35

GAME GENIE:

Crash codes. Toggle on wherever you like for a marvellous sampling variety, especially when there are stacks of great solo sounds to grab in Wave Race anyway.

WAVE RACE
112 34D F80

MOLE MANIA
4BA 989 256
AB4 54B 22D
D44 53A D53

Last two may wipe saved games.

Image

And here are some codes from my busy teenage years. It's the computing I did with most gusto in the early-mid '90s, along with BASIC tomfoolery.

SUPER MARIO LAND
DCB A89 ABD - Progressive electro arrangement. Also turn off then on after death for no music.
CEF DC9 7FE - Slo-Mo music.
676 539 013 - Super funky, driving new backing track in Star mode.

EF8 9AB DEB - Mario walks on his head, literally.
555 55D 555 - Freebies come from the ground, which can be handy.
DCB 8FD CA9 - Enemies change direction.
EF8 9CD DCD - Enemies flee from Mario.
BA9 FED CB8 - A digital world. Just don't fall down the number columns!
112 34D 770 - Suspended landscaping until code switched off. Can mean trapped enemies due to misplacement or end of level gates inoperable.

BA9 8FE DBA - Jump through roofs and ceilings.
CAB CAB CAB - Lose your Super to level skip, with code on.

246 XXF 632 - XX is 70 for Soviet-style overwhelming enemies, 99 for new levels, 4D to jump in mid-air,
43 to fly (jump then switch code on). Also try 76, 29 2E, 6A, 93 and 96 for other glitches.

89A CDE FDC - 'Speed' Mario, dies when still.
FEC BAD EED - Skating Mario.
E54 BCD FFC - No enemies.
ABC DED BEF - Enemies die slowly, as do the bomb explosions.
633 23D 670 - Level glitching. Toggle for variety.
9BB BDE F8F - Never-vanishing, infinite coins.

701 23D 677 - Super Mario Curtains.

SUPER MARIO LAND 2
176 53A 107 - FX only. Sometimes other noises, remedied by toggling code.
88F ECA 98F - One music voice out of sync.
135 54A 176 - Mario Techno backing tracks. Also changed music Pumpkin Zone level 1, no music level 2
and others.

007 76E 554 - Can't scroll left, for classic 8-bit fun.
9BC DEF 89A - Fall down in upscrolling level and the screen won't follow.

3CE FED CAB + DEF EC8 ACD - No sprite-to-sprite collision. Also means powerups ungrabbed with codes on.

DED B2D 527 - Floating Mario. Code on/off to toggle.
78A BDE 642 - Level mashup. On/off for some sanity.
FAB FAB FAB - Fab level one Mario Zone.
CBA 98F DBA - Background clutter.
9AB DE9 DEF - No enemies.
69A BDE F8C - Levels screwed up.

DDD DDD DDD - Bounce off enemies, dangers and some platforms, though not spikes.
CEE EEE EEE - Wipes all saves.
136 71B 567 - Avoid playing opening level on new game.

BURAI FIGHTER
BDF 8FE 9BD - Toggle during play for sound effects.
146 429 076 - Different drum routine.
A10 76D 432 - Ringo Fighter's ace drums.

FCA D6C EEC - Level skip by leaving on a few seconds.
CDE FED BAG - Guns don't fire.
ABD E7E 432 - Skater gremlin.
CB2 45E 701 - New levels.

NINTENDO WORLD CUP
076 54B 107 - Faster music.

LEMMINGS
670 12B 564 - Only one or two sound channels on.
070 02B 459 - Control descent of lemmings and mess with sound.

Also Google GAME BOY SAMPLES for some big fat piles!

Hmm, why code that? You just bang them in!
