This little program's alright. Pop it in, twiddle the presets and sample away. There are some good classic sounds in there and it certainly ranks above Make Music With Mistertronic and lesser Commodore titles.

My copy still looks in shop condition, which isn't too bad after all these years. Though I did have a slippy tape problem at one point, putting thumb to transport for more traction. Luckily, BBCTAPEDISC gave it the OK anyway, ready for your own Beeb.

You see, there it is Chris. You must have all these wonderful stories yet only hint at the history you've lived.


And the man with the Retro Wall says... it's about worth having a Beeb for the top program alone. The way the BBC manages envelopes is used splendidly enough, making an Acorn a fine compliment to the bigger gear when some special tidbit shows up.

Beebsynth is a pretty fine polyphonic, with adjustable presets you can call up live and just need to play live. And Music Tools has a nice rudimentary step thing (calling itself Organ), which emulator lag also screws right up.



However, I squeezed out enough for the first clumsy doodle:

Palmistry thing was when I responded to an ad in a magazine when I was 17. The guy (who now works for me) had two people submit stuff, but mine was better. Little did he know that I was going to be one of the most important people in his life ever...! Just goes to show that small decisions can have huge consequences.

But now the big question - can we still source a copy of that 'turning point' program? And wouldn't it be a good idea for a full-fledged Commodore Remix Memory Bank? I can't be the only one interested in old stories of game production, business running and industry dealing of the 1980s?

I dunno. I'm not sure if the Palmistry rules were ever entered by my friend, thus rendering the program a bit useless. I just did a framework for him to ask questions about the palm...

Memory bank is an idea, of course...

I do like tape's retro novelty now. Even the wait and noise is rose-tinted. Though with a good machine, I still don't miss the blues.

And you can still 'properly' buy them new and sealed, unlike the five-inch floppies. So sweet putting single-load disk files from D64s straight back to cassette. Just the format we once rushed to escape.

The tape image maker's a DOS jobby requiring a very long command. Though if they can't even supply a default string to enter then I won't even bother.

But then, in this case, just backing up to MP3 is enough to preserve. I've had enough tampering with DOS for one life.
