You mean something like this?

It really is a phenomenon. Even the Beatles themselves got involved and well, when that happens, you know you've a true cultural crossover: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct09/a ... asters.htm

And I didn't know there were so many serious controllers. By the looks, way higher quality than the software warrants but nonetheless welcome.

And my Music Maker came today. I haven't used it yet but if it's Magix, I would have expected something like mucking about firing loops with the controller: http://www.gizmag.com/music-maker-rocks ... lay/11833/

Looks pretty good for a toy sequencer: http://video.golem.de/games/1877/magix- ... ion-2.html

A new track may be made with the spread of drums, bass, organ, accustic guitar and video console. Or this could just be fantastic for doodling, another perfect inspiration maker in the studio toy cupboard.

Treated myself to a 3D TV yesterday (going cheap!). Watching Doctor Who Day of the Doctor in 3D was nothing short of astonishing!

Well, I did have to work and worry to be able to justify it... but luckily it can also count as a business expense! It's a Christmas present to myself and the family for a tough few years...

Nice. Is there a photo I can see?

And does it simulate its own 3D with the normal telly?

Yep, it does.

Oooo, touchscreen as well, presumably. How much did it set you back?

No, not touchscreen, but it has a magic remote like a WiiMote. Without the VAT it was around the £450 mark.

Amazing. I remember when small, low-res LCDs cost around that.

And now I'm thinking it could be cool having these doctor goggles making skin look invisible.

No word on price yet but that's just to get us more excited at all this pure creepy goodness. The Internet says it'll have WiFi as well.

...So I bet there'll be porn of it. Rule 34. Mind, that will be something to see through a 3D telly.

And in the New Year, some fresh pads to maybe work on my Alesis DM5. Unless there's an ST or PC program out there which can chain my Yamaha DD12 MIDI and bounce up the octaves. That will ensure a second set can provide extra range for the first.

But oh. Cantabile does it in its MIDI FILTER mode. As well as a MIDI channel changer. Right in front of my face! Realtime VST hosts are lovely things.

Could still upgrade to a new style, springy snare pad though. For more drumplers too: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/06 ... full-kits/

And I think a double drum pedal:

Though for MIDI use, I can chain the Playstation pads through my Alesis and use that too.

Or I could buy a cheap second spare, then put a bit of wood across them. Clumsy but should be effective, even at an angle and putting my foot anywhere along the wood.

Well what can you say to a constant gearluster? But I know the're all out there, I can hear them reading.

So what about you? Any interesting nick-nacks you like up there? I know there's a universe of interesting old synths just waiting, only we need them pointed out.

And I enjoyed that Magix thing. I added it to the reviews, making it top two with World Tour for something I could really use in proper recording.

Aah and this one's even cheaper:

I think I'll even have a go at making my own cymbal mutes. After all, I've improvised a good many things in this house, right down to the carpet.

What about using some old record mats and cardboard I've got lying around? Or even unused scraps of floor matting and rags.

Then in session, I can limber up muted before letting loose with the racket just for the tracking.
