PROJECT:HUBBARD (official thread)

Hi guys,

I've now done a bit more work on Project:Hubbard set so I thought I'd start this thread to get your esteemed feedback on what I've done so far. Feel free to post your comments and suggestions here, it all helps to steer me in the right direction with this, erm, project!

Project:Hubbard is going to be a triple CD set. Disc 1 will contain "the early works" (1985-1986), Disc 2 will contain 1986 -1987 tracks (most of the big hitters will be on this one) and then Disc 3 will contain the later stuff (1987-1988) + bonus tracks (which are currently a secret!)

I've now completed the recordings for Disc 1 and have gone through them to arrange them to form a pleasing 80 minute listening experience. I want to include a few tracks from both Gerry the Germ and The Human Race but rather than bunch them up together I've sprinkled them throughout the CD for a bit more variety. Would you prefer they were grouped together or don't you mind them being dotted around?

Here's V1 of the CD1 track listing - this is NOT 100% confirmed, have a look and let me know what you think ... (And let me know if I've missed off any early Rob tune that you cherish!)

* Edit - Track listing now changed - see thread below!

Don't forget, these are only Robs EARLY works ... So don't ask me where Sanxion and Zoids etc. are - they will be on disc 2!

All the recordings have been done from Martin Galway's C128D (the one with the "perfect SID chip" sticker on the front. :D

Sub, the working folder IS called Project:RubKnobhard ;)

Jgb, Thrust is already recorded and will be on CD2. :D

There's been a slight change to CD1 already. Formula 1 Simulator has now been dropped in favour of Chimera and Spellbound has been moved to CD2 for timing reasons (I.E. I thought I had 80 mins to play with but it was in fact 74!)

I'm guessing that's #1?

Personally I prefer Chimera #2, but part from that I think the tracklist looks fan-bloomin-tastic!

Hehe, I was talking to Chris about that - I prefer tune #2 as well ... I can feel a poll coming on! :)

No Zoids? :P

(yeah I know it's on CD2 but I could swear the game was released before some of the others featured on CD1 ;) )

Btw how are all of these being recorded? Off a real C64? If so, I presume you have a proper speed copy of Skate or Die there...

Nonononono, it was using the PC64 Emulator, routing SID input through AdLib sounds.

I thought he used the "Marcel SID Fart simulator"... for those farty drums :)

Actually, these will be "Kenzapella" recordings of me singing each tune - Perhaps-a-DON'T-be! ;)

Thrust and Spellbound?

Just a question. What's the situation now with his tracks which were more arrangements than original?
