I didn't know anything about this....but then again I am a bit slow...

I'm sure some smart alec will point me to hundreds of links and message board comments, but I figured if I can miss it, then maybe a few others can too.

Not exactly new... :) It's in the news section, too, and I'm sure it was mentioned a couple of times here.

It's a small orchestra rather than a large one.

How cool !!

http://www.oninternet.nl/projectEngels.asp?projectId=12
this seems to be the project site..
A production from Micromusic Netherlands and ON, namely C64 Orchestra. Micromusic is a webcommunity where its roots deeply lie in the retro-games music. Within the micromusic-scene, game computers not only function as a game computer but as an musicial instrument. For this production, C64 Orchestra turn their attention to the ground-breaking 80's computer, the Commodore 64. Recent facination in the Commodore 64, not only as a retro-game computer has fueled compelling interest as an instrument in the dance-scene (think of the Dutch hit from the artist Bastian - You' ve got my love many years ago). For this production, C64 Orchestra approached two of the most experianced C64-users from the 1980s, Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel. The current work of these two Commodore 64 musicians intend their compositions to be exploited with the aide of a classic orchestra.
The compositions that they are gonig to play:
Rob Hubbard's compositions:
Monty on the Run, One Man And His Droid, Commando, International Karate
Jeroen Tel's:
Cybernoid II, Hawkeye, Myth, Supremacy.
Midway 2006 will see this production premièred.

Its the same group who performed Bandle Bobble ;)

I'm sure Rob mentioned this last September also in the pub (not that I can remember much so I could be wrong)

from the jinx link,i love this line:

For those people who have already experienced the music of Rob Hubbard, absolutely no introduction is necessary, but for the benefit of those people who haven't - Rob Hubbard is the most famous musician you have never heard of.

that`s straight to the point.
