It's just I need to borrow one for BIT Live Brighton, and I too couldn't justify 900 Euros for a single-use instrument, however good. *sigh*

I've got a Hardsid. I used to have loads, but I gave them away as part of the C64Audio.com "care in the community" scheme...

What is for? Seth's performing live? I don't think anyway it's worth buying one, believe me. It's basically a SID chip with electonics to midize it, a patch memory and few other things.

I have your "ex" hardsid :) If you want, i can take it with me to Brighton, or send it to you if you need it before.

Anyway, i think QuadraSID does much better.

Cheers.

Seth isn't playing (can't afford to come), but we wanted to have some "hands on" playing of SID by the visitors. Sure, we could use Quadrasid or Hardsid, but nothing else has the knobs of Sidstation. Plus it's something to look at, like an exhibit.

Heh, well I can't ask you for ANOTHER £700 can I?

We might just have to have Quadrasid running instead...

Or maybe a Hardsid PCI, perhaps, but I wanted those damn knobs :)

Chris,

i think you should try 2 things:

-Look for someone who can rent it, or;
-Contact Elektron and ask if they are interested in send one test unit to u for the event. I know they're slowly stopping supporting the SIDStation (they're gonna to release their new machine), but, since they surely are SID nostalgic too, maybe may agree to support the event somewhat.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But no. They're not at all interested in anything we're doing, as far as I know. If someone from Elektron
is reading this and disagrees, then I'd be glad to hear from them.

Well, just a thought - if we already have a HardSid then why not get hold a "knobby" MIDI-Controller like the Phat.Boy?

That could work for an Hardsid, not for Quadrasid (it has no controller assigned, except the ones you can assing through the modulation matrix.

cheers.

Well, I guess. I've actually got a Phatboy, but the controller numbers
aren't programmable: though the Hardsid may be.

I concur with chris about Electron, i had dealings with them myself and they really are not supportive of the c64 comunity!
