An Interview with Eric Pochesci |
by Neil Carr Eric has produced some good remixes, however he is highly critical of his own work, describing himself as "Lazy". |
Real name: Eric Pochesci Born: 1976 Nationality: Italian/French |
Who were your favourite c64 composers? First place : Paul Hodgson for "Bozo's night out". the usual boring list of milestones : Daglish, Gray F, Hubbard, Dunn J, Galway. Special mention for a great man: K.W.Arnold. What c64 sids are your favourites? Bozo's, Zoids, Ultima 4-5, Green Beret, Deflektor, Mutants. What other arrangers do you like? All producing remixes in Rko for FREE. If there was a tune that you wish you could claim as your own, what would it be, and why? "imagine" by J.Lennon ...I would be rich )Which arrangement that you have done, are you most pleased with? none ...never had time to finish'em at 100%...I'm lazy...Mine are beta-Hdfull releases. i hear that in some of your arrangements you use sid sounds, why is this? I love those bzz squarzz blip noize. How do you feel a c64 sid should be covered? whatever-don?t care much: techo,hiphop,rock...used soundblaster 8 bit? Moog? Azerba-Kafiristan drums? kazoo (in concert with Zak mckracken) ? mattel keyboards ? and : I particularlly enjoyed listening to Ultima V Greyson's Tale (c128) how would describe this cover? Well, the original is marvelous ...but not well-known as it was available only with c128. My cover is mixed badly with crappy sounds...I should have used some true medieval stuff like "brave brave Sir Robin " of Monty python. What equipment/software do you use? Bill windoz Os Cubase Xt my synth pets collection...my most-used: Oberheim OBmx, Waldorf Pulse, Korg ms10, Roland Tr808, Yamaha cs60, Roland Jd800. my Xmas wish list: synthi Aks - moog modular or a IIIp -Korg ps3300 - Yamaha Gx1 (or cs80) and maybe an Arp 2500. I accept donation---no bontempi !!! Where do you get your musical influences? Here we go : K.Schultze, Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Krimson, J.m Jarre, Kraftwerk, Gainsbourg, Aphex Twin, Who, Yes, Pink Floyd. Why did you decide to cover c64 music? For fun ! and to be produced by Emi of course. Have you ever composed on the c64 itself? Yes but recently!! With the coming of the emulators, I transfered a lot of c64 disks, and there was a soft I never used before.A kind of synth-composer (no name was sold with a magazine in Italy) with a lot of interesting sliders, knobs, Lfo, Adsr.So I used it with my old c128-really interesting, but it was just experimentation. What are likes/dislike about the current remixing scene? I don't follow it much, except downloading in Rko. So what is Eric planning to do in the future? More covers in June. A Duo of "Delta" with Britney Spears (or Terrance & Phillip) Has there been an arrangement that has made an impression on you? I discovered some c64 tunes I never heard before listening to some arrangements like "rambo" by Furniss. Is there a tune that has not yet been covered that you would like to hear? V!!! the game. Bozo's of course...an indutro-mimalistic-ambient-chill megamix. Finally please add some of your own words that you may want to say to the Remix scene? Thanks to everyone doing free to keep alive this marvelous scene And thanks to those Artists who created such magical tunes. The word "FREE" pops up in this interview time and time again. Eric is obviously a firm beleaver in this as with many other arrangers that Remix64 has interviewed. - Neil Interview date: 31.05.2001 |
