| Prophet 64 Cartridge released | 05/06/2006 |
The highly promising Prophet 64 cartridge is shipping since 2nd June. The software suite is completely contained in the cartridge, which plugs into the c64 expansion port. This results in zero loading times. The suite contains a PC / Mac styled sequencer, a mono synth, and of course the 303 like bassline synth and the 909 style drum machine. Earlier Prophet64 versions had been available as software only.
MIDI control is possible through third party MIDI interfaces. An additional SID chip can be installed on the c64 with the SID2SID circuit board. The second SID chip is supported by the Prophet64 programs. Prophet 64 claims to be user friendly, and ties in neatly with modern studio gear. The cartridge ships for 39,00 EUR, including shipping worldwide. It can be ordered directly from the Prophet 64 homepage (link below.) |

| Merger of C64hq and C64.com | 12/05/2006 |
In the process of merging C64hq and C64.com, the old C64.com site has now been shut down. Both site URLs now point to an updated version of the current C64hq website, which will form the foundation for the new C64.com. From the C64hq news:
"During the coming months, you will see a lot of change. Material that is finished and that will hit the site soon is: more than 650 games, 150 demos, plus a lot of articles. And lots more material is in the making. We hope to put out the forum soon as well. And we're working on a brand new C64 demo as well which will be something special. And we're getting a new header up there from The Sarge. And there will be lots more interviews. And... well, we have a lot of things in the works so to speak. Stay tuned!" |
