| Remix64 CD Vol 3: SYNTAX ERA now shipping | 27/03/2008 |
![]() NOW SHIPPING!Yes that's right folks! The CDs have now arrived at C64Audio.com. Chris Abbott has already begun sending out parcels to all the preorders. If you haven't ordered yours yet, now is the time, for this is probably the best Commodore related remix album of all times.Pure Geek-cheek!Take famous 80s tracks such as 19, Two Tribes, Too Shy, Billy Jean, Broken Wings and I Feel Love, painstakingly recreate the sound, and inject that into classic C64 music such as BMX Kidz, Comic Bakery, Sanxion, Arkanoid and Ghouls and Ghosts.Remixes come from amazing talent: Romeo Knight, LMan, Makke, Tom Detert, Tron, Moog, Binster, Ziphoid, Boz, Sonic Wanderer, Tonka, Skitz, Trace, Slaygon, iFadeo and even (gasp) a guest appearances here and there from Chris Abbott. You'll wonder how we could get away with such a cheeky tribute to the 80s: well, no samples from the original tracks were used, and the musical content has been replaced by the C64 tune covered. The CD also features some really great songs in their own right, which result from a perfect match between C64 melodies and hooks, the sound of SID, and classic 80s instrumentation, such as Ace II, Jethro Walrus, Aspar Grand Prix, and Dominator. The CD was the baby of Markus "LMan" Klein, who acted as Co-ordinator, remixer, artist and layout, and even made his own tea, ably assisted by Tom Detert who did much of the mastering. CD is in now shipping! Tracks are available in high quality VBR MP3 and FLAC (all non-DRM). |

Holger Gehrmann, famed C64 and Amiga games developer and musician, passed away on 11th February 2008. This was just brought to our attention by one of our visitors. Apparently he fell from a 6th floor window of a multi-storey building, whether it was suicide or an accident is not known to us.Gehrmann was co-founder of the "Golden Games" and "reLINE" games companies. He was involved in the development of several well known titles like "Oil Imperium", "Biing", "Emerald Mine" or "Hollywood Poker Pro" among others. Rest in peace.

On September 13th, 2008 it's time for another installment of Back in Time Live. Yet again, it's all about celebrating the Commodore 64 and its music. The event will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, and this year it's hosted by Andreas Wallström from C64.COM and John Carehag from Ziphoid Entertainment. The guys have been around the demo scene since 1987, they have their own radio shows on SLAY Radio, they run C64 sites, Andreas played in SID'80s together with Ben Daglish – among other things. It's safe to say they breathe Commodore 64 air every day. This year will treat you with talents such as Jeroen Tel, Reyn Ouwehand, 6581 (Reyn Ouwehand, Eike Steffen (Romeo Knight) and Andreas Wallström (Morpheus)) and Disco Danceaway alongside with the DJ Jucke of Genesis Project and a lot of nice people attending. | ROTY Awards 2007 Show at SLAY Radio | 18/02/2008 |
The results are in! Skitz and Kenz hosted the excellent awards show at SLAY Radio, recapping the events and releases of each month in 2007, and finally publishing the winners of the 2007 Remix64 awards.Reyn Ouwehand managed to sack "Most Innovative Mix" and "Best c64 Remix" with his stunning interpretation of "Green Beret", as well as the "Best Veteran" award. The mass of talent that this man is blissed with speaks for itself, and in 2007 he entertained us with his CD release, with playing on stage at BITLive 2007, and with numerous impressive live performances at SLAY Radio. daXX on the other hand clearly dominated the "Best Amiga Remix" charts with massive 10 remixes in there and scoring the top position with his excellent "Budbrain Kaosmodules" Techhouse remix. Peter W received the well-deserved award for "Best Newcomer", debuting with outstanding electronica remixes. Finally, the big bounty, the Oscar of the remixing scene, the "Remixer of the Year" award deservedly went to Dafunk, for delivering continous high quality releases (38 remixes since 2004), 7 of them scoring in the "Best c64 Remix 2007" category. Congratulations everyone! For the full result list, click the link below. |

| C64 Podcasts 1st Anniversary Special - March 2008!!! | 13/02/2008 |
Ladies and Gentlemen I bring you great news, as you may or may not know it's been almost a year since my first ever podcast, yes amazingly that was in march last year!! What's even more amazing is that I'm still making them (I usually give up on things quickly) but I love the scene so much I just can't stop, anyhoo enough of the relentless banter, I'll tell you what's going on. In about a month or so is the first anniversary of my C64 podcasts and to celebrate im planning a very special show, I can't say much about it at the moment but what I can tell you is there's going to be lots of input from some of our favourite remixers and perhaps some input from some of favourite SLAY Radio DJ's... ALSO... I have a competition lined up with a very nice prize donated by C64Audio.com. All of the podcasts I've done so far (33), this is the one im looking forward to the most. If you'd like to get a mention on the podcast, or request a tune, drop me a line and I'll make a note of it, its going to be at least a 3 hour show so I have lots of time to fill! Keep your eyes on the broadcasting forum of remix64 for more information as it arrives! Thanks Subzero |

| You can choose which C64 game the C64 orchestra has to play | 07/02/2008 |
Dear C64 orchestra fan, We hope you enjoyed the looks of RUN 10 as well as the tunes on the cd. As you will know this is only a small selection of the vast amount of tunes available! For the coming live shows we want to broaden our repertoire with new tunes and we are looking for your help with picking the nicest. To make life a little easier for us we asked Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel to nominate a couple of games. C64 game tunes nominated by Jeroen Tel are: 1. Cybernoid 1 2. Poseidon: Planet Eleven (Title tune) 3. Rubicon (Title tune) C64 game tunes nominated by Rob Hubbard are: Spellbound Nemesis the warlock Rasputin Kentilla Dragons Lair Auf Wiedersehen Monty So help us by mailing your most favourite selection and please limit your choice to 3! We also want to know which C64 game tune of other composers we definitely have to play in the future. Feel free to forward this question to your friends and anyone who will have an opinion on this quest for the best C64 game music. Send an email to C64orchestra@ONinternet.nl Regards The C64 orchestra |
