"The 8Bit Philosophy" on german TV, 10th August
It's official - the german TV broadcaster 3Sat will air an half hour special TV cut version of Konstantin Stürz's documentary "The 8Bit Philosophy" within the show "Neues" on:10th August 2008, 16:30 CET.
A nice chance for you to see parts of the documentary before it's official release at BITLive 2008.

Nokia releases SID/chiptune soundtrack
Nokia releases the chiptune soundtrack made by naughtyboy for their forthcoming PC/mobile game "Reset Genration" via IGN. "Reset Generation"is the title of the forthcoming multiplayer Cell/PC game from Nokia & Redlynx! Reset Generation will be released for free this summer for PC players, and will cost approx. $10 for Cell phone users. IGN says, "Inviting to play and unfairly addictive, this fast-paced, multiplayer puzzle game is designed to be a dream come true for game fans: it's a videogame about videogames!"

Symphonic Shades 2008 - CD announced!
Good news for everyone waiting for a CD of the forthcoming Symphonic Shades Concert on August, 23rd 2008. Now it was confirmed that an album will be definitely produced. Planned release date for the CD is Q4 this year, the price will be 22,00 Euro (MSRP). In the first month the CD will be exclusively available through the online shop of MAZ Sound, so as a preorderer you'll get the CD at the earliest possible date.

DiCaprio as Atari Founder
Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to make a movie of the life of Nolan Bushnell, video game pioneer (Computer Space, Pong) and founder of Atari. Apparently Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be the producer, and probably also the main actor.Submitted by LMan

PRESS PLAY ON TAPE at Roskilde Festival 2008
On Sunday, June 29th at 9PM, PRESS PLAY ON TAPE will perform at the Roskilde Festival. This year the festival features quite a lot of retro computer sound inspired bands, thus also PRESS PLAY ON TAPE. The concert will be 45 minuttes and take place in the Junior Pavillion. ROC=K ON!

Darling brothers awarded CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours
David and Richard Darling, who wrote many Commodore 64 games including the infamous Chiller, have been awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for their services to the computer games industry.

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi to attend Symphonic Shades
On August 23, 2008, famous SEGA composer Takenobu Mitsuyoshi will attend both "Symphonic Shades" concerts in Germany.It also has been announced that Takenobu Mitsuyoshi will arrange music from "Apidya II" for the "Symphonic Shades" events. Thanks to SEGA Germany and Merregnon Studios, the Japanese composer was invited to come to Cologne, Germany to join both concerts performed by the WDR Radio Orchestra at 8 PM and 11 PM.
