C64 orchestra on tour!

Hello C64 orchestra fan,

It has been some time since you heard from us. But no worries, we will keep you updated on what's happening!

Let's start with what's happening with the release of the C64 cd. Right now we are talking with different record companies in and outside Europe. Our record label in Europe is Rounder and we are talking with Yep Roc in the States. We are working on the release of a special edition with all the specifics of C64 design. We invited some great Dutch design companies and finally made the choice to work with Hotel. In the mean time we are working on clarifying some legal issues concerning the rights of songs and games, a slow but necessary process. The release, the special edition and the 'normal' version, will be two cd's. One will be the orchestrated version by the C64 orchestra and the other one has the original tunes, two games and an emulator to play the C64 games on your pc. And we will also add some video footage of the premiere! So it's a full package of C64 fun!

The big question is: when will  the cd be released?
We hope to release it in June 2007, but it's a long shot. Lots of issues need to be resolved before we can raise the flag!

C64 orchestra is ON tour:
15-03-07 De Vereeniging, Nijmegen, NL
17-03-07 Atak, Enschede, NL
16-05-07 Vredenburg, Utrecht, NL
03-06-07 Virusfestival, Eindhoven, NL
14-07-07 Forma Nova Festival, Fredericia, Denmark

Timbaland 'fesses up to videogame idiots worldwide 09/02/2007
In a revealing radio interview, Timbaland (famed Hip Hop Producer and well known SID fan) appeared to inadvertently confess to the theft of "Acid Jazz Evening" from Janne Sunni and Glenn Rune Gallefoss while trying to defend himself.

His main legal argument appears to be that the use of the tune was legal sampling because:
  1. He damn too important
  2. He didn't go round the guy's house or nuffink
  3. He's never been to Finland, and...
  4. The piece was written by "a videogame idiot", so it doesn't count.
Seasoned observers now expect digital effigies of Timbaland to be made into game characters and killed in a variety of entertaining, yet gruesome, ways.

The apparent admission that he doesn't know where his samples come from is a gift to the case against him and Geffen Records.

ROTY 2007 Voting begins! 06/02/2007
ROTY Cup 2006 - what will it look like? From today, voting for 2007's best remixes and artists has begun!

The most noteable difference to 2006's voting is that the number of entries into your personal ROTY lists in each category is not limited any more. The balance of points per rank remains unchanged, entries on rank #5 and below receive the same amount of points.

The main ROTY voting page has a new AJAX user interface. It is more user friendly, and will validate your entries on the fly.

The process of making ROTY entries in a tune's voting box remains unchanged. The only difference is that entries will not vanish if they slide below #5, but simply move further down in the list, receiving equal score.

Happy ROTYing 2007! :-D

PS: please report technical or conceptual difficulties.

HVSC #46 is out! 23/01/2007
From the HVSC team:

"The drought is over! After the longest delay EVER between two updates we are back with another bunch of 1000+ SID tunes that bring the whole collection to a whopping 33,000 tunes! I´m confident it was worth waiting for, as the new updates has some surprises inside.

The whole collection is undergoing a massive directory structure change. So if you´re downloading the update packs, be prepared for a rather long time it takes for the update tool to complete. After it has reached 60% things are becoming dog slow, but don´t mistake that with a freeze or crash. It´s doing its job, moving almost every tune in HVSC to its new location. Go outside for a walk and when you´re back you´ll have a new and shiny HVSC on your harddisk. :-)

For the full text of the update announcement, please read here..."
