| HVSC #46 is out! | 23/01/2007 |
From the HVSC team:"The drought is over! After the longest delay EVER between two updates we are back with another bunch of 1000+ SID tunes that bring the whole collection to a whopping 33,000 tunes! I´m confident it was worth waiting for, as the new updates has some surprises inside. The whole collection is undergoing a massive directory structure change. So if you´re downloading the update packs, be prepared for a rather long time it takes for the update tool to complete. After it has reached 60% things are becoming dog slow, but don´t mistake that with a freeze or crash. It´s doing its job, moving almost every tune in HVSC to its new location. Go outside for a walk and when you´re back you´ll have a new and shiny HVSC on your harddisk. For the full text of the update announcement, please read here..." |

| Producer "Timbaland" in unauthorised SID usage allegations | 16/01/2007 |
|
As has been reported on the forum last october, the track "Do It" on Nelly Furtado's album "Loose" appears to contain complete parts of the SID tune "Acid Jazz" by Glenn Rune Gallefoss (GRG). "Do It" has been produced by the famous hip-hop producer Timbaland. Whether or not Nelly Furtado or the label were aware of the potential problems of this apparent borrowing is unclear.
GRG's tune has been released in 2002, and is itself a sanctioned cover version of the tune "Acidjazzed Evening" by Tempest (Janne Suni), which won the Assembly music competition in 2000. The original composer and remixer state that neither the record company nor the Producer approached them for permission, leading to an upsurge in media interest in the story, helped in no small way by the Composer himself. Timbaland, being on tour, cannot yet be reached for comment, though one of his staff has hinted publicly on digg.com that when he comes back from tour he might join the discussion. Join the discussion at our messageboard. |

| New submission system on AmigaRemix.com | 18/12/2006 |
|
Finally, the long-awaited release of the new submission system on AmigaRemix.com is a reality.
The system has been totally rewritten from scratch and should make it easier for both the submitting arranger as well as the spankin' new jury which will judge the entries as they are submitted. The aim of it all is to get things going on the Amiga-side of the scene and since there are a lot of potent remixers out there, the future is bright and we're looking forward to a new generation of Amiga remixes coming along. So, if you're a remixer, go ahead and submit your remixes to the site and if you're a listener, look forward to hear some nice stuff in the future. |
