REVIEW BY ZaPenguin (02/11/2010)

I really need to go back and re-read these shouts the next time I'm about to feel guilty for panning a "lounge" remix for being dull.

This track does what few remixers actually manage to do, and that is create more than a "sound", but rather an actual feeling. Hubbard's already-creepy original is up under a microscope, where its wobbly, disoriented, psychologically unsound nature is in high focus.

Much, much more interesting than the umpteenth "Chris Hülsbeck song with floaty Yanni synths set to Europop beat" remix, in much the same way that Orwell's "1984" is more redeeming than a Harlequin Romance dreadful.

It's not perfect (the soundscape is a bit mid-rangey), it's not pleasant (as the average reaction can attest to), but it's Better For You.

Overall:

Makke shouts: This is an example of how not to do it. Mindless SID+drum, with the odd reverb with random settings is not remixing.
kwed shouts: During the sections where Hubbards SID isnt mauled by Eftos trademark bitonal overlays its actually a fairly good rendition. Lay off the unpleasant frequencies, PLEASE!
Satanarchist shouts: Turn off the reverb, ditch the drum samples and get rid of the out of key backing, in other words listen to the vastly superior SiD.
SarahKreuz shouts: It`s just a bloody rape for my ears. X-(
Amiga500plus shouts: Sorry, but nope!
