Somebody told us that the refrain in this remix somewhat resembles an old 80'ies pop tune. This must be purely coincidential, and we have yet to find which tune this is. We'll get back to you if we find it.
The lyrics ...
You know, lately I have been having all these strange kind of dreams. I can wake up in the middle of the night, and start searching for a three-headed monkey. What does it mean?
...and those rocks, they just kept falling and falling and all I wanted was diamonds. I wanted to get outta there... fast. What does it mean?
I saw dots, yellow dots everywhere. I was being chased through tunnels, endless tunnels, they were after me, hunting. What does it mean?
...and that spaceship. I could see the invaders coming from the sky. And all I could do was keep moving left then right and left and left and hide
from their
bombs underneath the shelters.
What does it mean?
What does it mean?
What does it mean?
I want to know what it means, YOU HEAR THAT?
Refrain
Sweet games are made of this
who are you to disapprove
You've played every game
since the 70'ies
Everybody's playing with something
Sweet games are made of this
who are we to disagree
You know, this happens ten to twenty times a day. Flashbacks and sweat.
I'm not sleeping. I'm afraid to close my eyes. It's coming back anytime. Memories I don't want. Memories are eating me. From the inside.
I cry, my body is shaking. You probably don't notice, do you? I've been hiding this from day one. You won't see it, you'd really think I'm normal, don't you, you think I'm normal, DON'T YOU?
Normal, yes I'd like to be normal, whatever It'll cost, please make me normal...
Refrain
Sweet games are made of this
who are you to disapprove
You've played every game
since the 70'ies
Everybody's playing with something
Sweet games are made of this
who are we to disagree
We've played everything
since the 70'ies

REVIEW BY winc (25/02/2004) A more "classical" take on Sweet, with a nice mix of Moody Blues, and Eurythmics. This piece works, and has a nice feel to it, though I do believe that something of the original classic C64 music of Sweet by Johannes has been lost in this piece (sorry). I believe the main reason for this to be the Eurythmic opera style tune - while it is a nice tune and lyrics in their own right, I think the power of the original melody or Sweet is lost because of the replacement with the Eurythmic melody. However, that is pretty much all I can find wrong with this track, the technical skills shown in the whole piece is outstanding, and if I could create music half as good I would be proud. The classical music style of the piece is stunning, and I would certainly love to hear a classical/non-Eurythmic melody remix of this. I have a feeling that I'm "not going with the flow" with this piece - because of others opinions - but hey I like to be different To me it just didn't hold that Nostalgic feel. But overall, a stunning and wonderfully created, and masterful piece in its own right. |

REVIEW BY tomsk (02/09/2004) Original tune ? Oops, never heard of it. I suppose that's my novice values coming into play. What I can do though, is still review this piece. Originally downloading this I wasn't sure what to expect...and one thing's for sure, I never expected this.On first listen.....a little weird...perhaps a bit too brave....not that keen on the parody Three to Four listens...getting to really like this now, beautiful instruments, excellent singing, and odd but strangely enjoyable voice overs. And now....Well it's on in the car CD compilation and I'm so bloody glad it is. I think people will miss out on this perhaps because it's a bit 'way off theC64' mark, but I love it. Fantastic orchestration and Mahoney is guilty as ever of trying something a bit differnet. I works great for me. I hope others don't miss out on this great track by disregarding it on first impressions. Thanks guys and gals - a favorite of mine ! |

REVIEW BY Tas (20/02/2004) It's rare such a well made tune can look at itself and be turned on its head with no other mission in mind than pure fun. Well its rare unless your Mahoney who should be well known to many by now for not taking things too seriously. This time however he joins up With Markus Schneider who provides a very well orchestrated background to what is a semi-serious/semi-not so serious remix. Add to Mahoney and Markus Schneider two wonderful female vocalists and then somehow pop in a version of Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" and you have something that strangely works very well. It's fun and also quite intense at the same time. An highly original mix from mahoney and some great ochestral work behind it spells one thing.... WOW!! |

REVIEW BY graylightning (14/04/2004) The orchestral stuff is incredible. Hands down some of the best I've heard. I would like to congratulate the participants involved in this. The orchestration, composition, production are all great and demonstrate a level of professionalism that I can only admire. The voice overs and (Karin and Elsa?) angelic vocals also completely fit the piece. As a piece of music, perfect work. Love it, love the nod to Eurythmics. A fantastic piece and one that I will be listening to for a very long time to come. Thank you. |

REVIEW BY suso (19/02/2004) I don't know whether you were joking about the coincidental nature of the refrain, but it's pretty obvious that it was inspired or taken from "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics.Other than that, I really like the song. It's more of a general song for all games, but applies just as well to C64 games. I think more songs like this are needed to help give a voice to the community of gamers. From all generations. In my opinion, you did better lyrics to the Eurythmics melody than they did originally. |

REVIEW BY xonder (11/06/2004) A really great, sweeping orchestral remix of Johannes Bjerregaard's "Sweet". I especially liked the wonderful refrain with the superb singing by Karin Öjehagen. The sheer beauty of her crystal clear voice and the wonderfully orchestrated harmonies actually made me cry. Divinely beautiful! |
