Story
Comic Bakery, a song i always wanted to remix. But i wanted to remix it in a way not done before.

Had a couple of ideas on how it should sounds. Some better and some worse.

Anyway it ended up as it is now.

Morpheus recorded some nice drums that where supposed to be in the song after the break in the end. But sadly they didnt fit into the song. The song was to much "electro" to use real drums in.
So the solution was to put them after Hanna's laugh where the song was pitched up and down.

Also want to say thank you to thoose who helped me along the way. Not going to mention any names.. You know who you are.

3 Best c64 Remix

Shouts
Outstanding for arrangement, Good for 128 KBit only.
One of my all-time favourites!
Sometimes I suspect that o2 is an alias of Jean Michel Jarre
Totally great.. Nothing much to say about it..
An all time great track, in fact my all time No. 1 C64 remix. The instrumentation and arrangement is great BUT it's simple Hanna's fantastically lovely voice which puts this in a different league from the rest.
Superb
Very nice!:)
This one sends chills down my spine... Simply awesome!
Superb. Red and dusted.
Love it, it has a real kraftwerk feel to it at the beginning and rapidly moves on to a more modern type sound and the vocal's fit quite nicely
Masterpiece
Nice song, I like the female vocals.:)
Hannas vioce is magical ;] thx for it
First I thought 'jarre', then I thought 'kraftwerk', then I thought 'you rule'.
Wow this is the best remix I have ever heard im putting this one on my phone!
Cool stuff! Added to my collection. Similarities with Donné's Ocean Loader 1 from the Remix64 album must be pure coincidence.;-)
One of the best songs on the site. Very good, and fun mixing. What an atmosphere this song creates. Outstanding!
Excellent sounds, excellent voice - an absolutely outstanding tune
Very nice remix, but I HATE the female vocals.
All is got so good but something is wrong to loud some times and the female vocal is sometimes....
Lost for words. One of the first pieces I ever listened to on Remix64, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Still in my top 5
Kickin ass remix. Amazing vocal part - great job! I will make vocal phrase for ringtone xD
Awesome stuff, from first second to last one.
Never heard the original, but this cover is just magical.
Love it!<3
The vocals!!! Why?!
Perhaps the best C64 remix of all time. It's almost magical...

Great cover from o² again! The vocals are very nice and fits perfect in (sounds like the were in the orginal, too)! Good work, go on so.

Oh my GOD!! This utterly, utterly, UTTERLY beautiful cover of Comic Bakery practically game me a JOYGASM the first time I heard it!!! I'm a huge fan of 80's electro / synth tracks (and the works of Mr Jarre of course) so hearing this piece was like having everything I like in a piece of music injected directly into my brain!!

The vocals are a VERY nice touch and the section of the tune where everything seems to go wrong and conk out is brilliantly done and definitely appeals to my somewhat warped sense of humour. The tune soon picks itself up after that and delivers and thoroughly lovely cover of Comic Bakery with fantastic powerful synth lead sounds, classy vocals, superb Kraftwerk-esque percussion, sexy sequencers and lots of other assorted ear-candy. Oh and it's a Galway track too - things just don't get much better than this!

To sum up, this is possibly one of the finest covers of Comic Bakery I've ever heard and this is definitely one of my favourite Commodore 64 remixes released in 2004 so far. Well done to everyone involved with this remix, it's gonna be a tough one to top I reckon!

This struck me like lighting, I just had to sign up to be able to review and tell everybody how wonderful this tune is! (This is my first review).
The vocals fits SO well to the arrangement which is solid and very well done. Everything feels so complete in to every detail. Good thing making the remix a non-dance version too, which O2 don't usually do anyway.
It's not so Jarre-ish as I expected at first, maybe because of the vocals. There are of course some classic Jarre/O2 sounds, but I feel the tune takes Jarre closer to O2 rather than taking O2 closer to Jarre which makes for a perfect blend.
I don't know if there is any reason for me to say anything about every little detail that is good, noone would bother to read this review to the end…

Now there is no doubt that Comic Bakey is my all time fave of SIDs.
I've listened to this remix at least 15 times and if I'm not listening to it, I'm humming it silently til my throat hurts.

When I first heard this tune I couldn't stop listening to it, it went on repeat for hours.

If you like old synthesizer giants like Kraftwerk, Yazoo and Jarre, you will love this tune.

I immediately fell in love with Hanna Kappelins voice, gosh does she have a sexy voice or what? The song is ethno style and fits perfectly with the tune. All mixed with Kraftwerk inspired sounds. It's even better than Kraftwerk because it is not so extreme.

The tune is complete with great sounds, great melody, great song, great voice. It's funny, spontaneous, constructive and wierd, you don't get tired off it no matter how much you listen to it.

I only wish there were a version of this tune that were loooooonger!!!
( and availible on a better format than mp3, for hi-fidelity nerds like me ( so one can realy enjoy it )).

Okay, while I'm not the one to push forward and tell the world how much I love this or that… here and now I have to make an exception.
To date I thought no arranger could get close to Instant Remedy's mix of Comic Bakery (and please don't misunderstand, IR's mix is still out of this world and I have 'tortured' my wife by playing it at least a million times) but this one catches up and then some.
While I have to disagree with other reviews that this has Jean Michel Jarre written all over it it sure spells K R A F T W E R K. Rightfully so, Kraftwerk have defined electronic music like nobody else after them. Might as well aim at the best. Enough talking, time to rate:
Technically this is a work of beauty, the artistic impression is right on par but I deduct the obligatory point for nostalgic impression because the Acapella approach just doesn't bring those old SID flashbacks to mind.
It's a good thing because I re-learned how uniqe and cool this song actually is because the mix doesn't just COPY, it re-defines…

When I heard the names… o2, Marcel Donné and Mahoney, my (along with moog) overall favorite remixing guys (especially Donné, who is my god of c64 remixes); Hanna Kappelin, the very best singer in the c64 scene; Martin Galway, the best composer on the c64 (Yes, better than Hubbard!), with one of his best songs, Comic Bakery… I thought this remix must be sooo intergalactic - but then it wasn't.

It's still outstanding, though! Good work, guys!!! 😉
