I love disco, the tail of the flower power era and the bridge towards the 80s. For me Disco spells fun. Coz whereas nowadays "cool" is what music is supposed to be, in every sense of the word, back than it was "happy". And I like "happy". Coz I like to be "happy", see? I'm ranting...
Once again I tried to make it sound old as the 1982 original "Lime - Your love", complete with a 45rpm wobble and a Compact Cassette character. This took the better part of the time I was working on it. (I actually considered buying a tape deck just for this track) This, the claps and the horrible violins that come with the Reason Soundbanks. On the other hand, it was fun to drown almost everything in reverb. Coz that's what they did back in them days. And good for me as it perfectly masks any digital evidence in what poses to be an analog production from head to toe.

REVIEW BY LaLa (08/09/2010) Absolutely surprisingly fresh and well-executed remix of Cybernoid II in the style of 70s disco with some modern twist to it!The unique arrangement is what really makes this remix shine: the rhythm section, the way the round original tune and melody has been put into this square box (and it fits!). The only place where this falls apart slightly is between 2:24-3:20 where the lead and the chords are just not meshing quite well. My only gripe: the whitenoise audible throughout the recording, especially at the very beginning and at the very end of it. I would also recommend replacing the high-pitched leads with vocals for another mix - now, that would make it sound really 70s, I think! All in all, fantastic effort, great results, very enjoyable! |
