Synth Sample III (Subtune 10)

This very short SID tune by Rob Hubbard is likely to be known from the "Dynamic Duo", who stole the SID for their crack intro. In the end, I'm glad they did that, for else I wouldn't have known it... STIL info says it covers Human League's "Do or Die", but comparative listening did show little similarity, so the issue of "remaking the remake" doesn't count here in my opinion.

The Remixes

It was a fun afternoon recording the vocals on our crappy microphone! Cleaning the noise from the samples afterwards was a real pain in the arse, tho... :-)

The idea was to do a tribute for the Back In Time Live 3 event in London. The Synth Sample III SID provided a perfect template for the dance-tune style I had in mind.

In my opinion, it's my best tune up to date, which is obviously oppositional to the public voters' opinions. I tried to figure out why that might be - I got hints that people either found the tunes to be too monotonic, and/or didn't like the original at all. So my conclusion is: if you could feel the magic in the original SID, you're (hopefully) gonna love the remixes, accompanied by Sunflower's energetic voice!

- LMan :-)

Chappers shouts: Superb trance mix that would fit right in for clubbing in Ibiza. My favourite LMan mix so far (not forgetting some excellent vocals from Sunflower). A quite brilliant update.
omoroca shouts: I like the slow version better...
