I probably should rename my own effort to "synth orchestral", given that it isn't actually performed by a real orchestra.

I'm very tempted to upgrade my 4 year old sample bank though for one of the more affordable orchestral sample plugins out there... Synful sounds promising.

Au contraire, I've always found original stuff to be easier, since you can do whatever comes to mind without having to worry about anyone else peering over your shoulder: and it's very hard to insert yourself into another's ideas creatively without ruining the original ideas: it's a very useful dis...

I think next time I'll hire an orchestra, to satisfy the "purists" here  That, or I'll completely scrap any synthetic orchestral effort and do my next piece in nothing but acapello doo-wop  Seriously, I'm not worried about the opinions, for most of them are valid. If you lik...

While I appreciate you stepping up to my defence, Tas, LaLa does raise a good point about the mix. I didn't spend hours tweaking this one as I would have other pieces that are used for more commercial purposes, and as a result a lot of the delivery of the samples comes out rather unnaturally, someth...

Granted, but the fruitflies infesting it don't really want to be eaten. I wish I had a turkey sandwich with turkey that is not dry or over-oily, the bread not stale and hard, just the right amount of mayonnaise that is not rancid, and fresh lettuce that has not been infested by any insects and not o...

1942 (Orchestral Arrangement)

I've never seen the movie 633rd Squadron nor heard it's score, so this version of 1942 will hopefully sound more faithful to the SID than anything else. It features all 3 subtunes of the 1942 SID file. I don't know whether it will be featured on RKO or not... Ball's in Jan's court for that. http://w...

I have to say that going by the guidelines we've talked about in this thread, it shouldn't be on RKO, because the music is actually more famous as "film war music" than as the in-game for 1942. I love the cover (as I said), but it really is too famous for RKO IMHO. Chris Heh, depends who ...

Okay, I've submitted it to RKO; it's in Jan's hands now whether or not it gets accepted. I'm hoping it will be, given it's a remix not only of the first subtune, but also of the second and third. If it gets rejected, I'll just make it available at my webspace. I'm 90% happy with how it turned out, a...

I hope I haven't started an argument here! :?

Well, here's the deal. I will finish the remix of 1942, and I'll let Jan decide whether or not it is appropriate when I submit it. While that is being hummed and harred over by Jan, I'll get cracking on a remix of Hunter Patrol.

Cheers all!

Granted... but the 9 months of work following it will be hell.
