Some of the "power" i orchestral may also lie in the amount of soundsources, you seldom have tens of oscillators per synth sound. And some power in the dynamic range. It's not just unz, unz, full volume all the time.

Sorry for going OT Infamous. I should have a listen to the tune too :)

I agree with Razmo that it seems to many that orchestral scores is a "higher artform". Like "this is real music, not something a teen threw together in a tracker/FL over a cup of coffee". Maybe that why it's considered higher artform, because it's harder to quickly get good results. This is also the...

Brilliant covers of a nice selection of SIDs!
Ghosts'n Goblins just felt so natural sounding this way, just great.

And the music is really cool too! Like Jarre in the good old days. Anyone know who made the music?
And aren't most comments in french, didn't spot many swedish comments.

I think Madtracker plays 4-track mods and xm, at least it did. Demo is free.

Damn looser... How can anybody do this and be able to sleep at night? And what about getting feedback from people saying: "Wow, awesome tune, dude!". Would feel really WRONG. If it was for money I would understand it to some degree, but just for fame or whatever... At least he chose well, Noisy Pill...

I think quadraSID is a real nice VST and you get a real bang for the buck - $59. Very light on the CPU also. No messing with MIDI and hardware, just pops up in a window sounding great. Only by playing with the demo you come up with real nice pulse-basses, arp-chords and hubbard leads, presets leads ...

My first guess was actually something Korg. I had a friend who owned a Z1 which was very expensive at the time and I fiddled a little with it and the X-Y pad (I think it was called). A really nice synth it seemed.
Impressive bunch of synths! You can't have much room left in your room.

Yes, today I would have chosen a 990. The 800 is a hog and using a synth-librarian you will work it quite efficiently. The downsides were SYSEX and it was only usable in solo mode. What synth is on the first post? I'm totally off nowadays when it comes to synths. Haven't looked around for hardwarest...

Mmmmm, the JD800... I loved this synth, sold it a couple of years ago. The distortion unit + resonance on this piece was able to absolutely SCREAM and not like the soft, thin dist you find on almost every other synth I've tried (both soft and hardware). And scream in a good way, not "ouch my ears"-s...

Nice, trancey tune but one I really like is "Blackmail tune1". Clean, thumpey sound, real nice drums and overall sound. We're going a bit off topic now I'm afraid.

Hehe, FT2, those were the days... I'm stuck with tracker-style editing so I used Madtracer for the tunes on the CD and now I use Renoise. If we were given these tools when we where young... we would fall off of our chairs (swedish figure of speech). There is practically nothing to ask for in Renoise...

Ok, after listening to some more tunes at RKO, I came with the conclusion that keeping the original feel of the SID is really important. Thats why I often keep original SID-sounds, I really like arpeggio-chords. Making it sound as "commercial" as possible is not that important. I always try to keep ...

I have actually talked with Slaygon himself on the phone a couple of weeks ago and heard my tunes were still popular in the playlist and charts. Really makes me feel warm and happy. And of course surprised, a lot new stuff has been released since when I made the tunes. They may probably have somethi...

I'm still alive, but it's been a while. Best explanation for my absence is being a father for my 2 children. Kids take their share of the spare time. Cool to see anyone asking about me in community :) I've done some smaller game-music projects, one shareware game with a Pirate theme and one song for...
