Re: What's your fave C64 orchestral remix?

I really think Glyn's 'Firelord' stands out. Considering the age of it now, (2002 remix), it still stands as a great arrangement despite the individual instrument quality. It's a beautiful, sensitive reworking of a classic C64 tune and deserves its place as a benchmark in the evolution in orchestral...

Re: Ocean Loader 3 (2 x NEW Remixes)

Thanks Andy... At the beginning, I thought the Orchestral remix would be the one I spent more time on.... but you're right, getting the feel of the original SID tune takes time and effort. The opening bars of the loader, (Mart's original bit), are in 6:8 and it's a really weird time signature to dru...

Ocean Loader 3 (2 x NEW Remixes)

Hi All,

Just uploaded 2 remixes of OL3. One is pretty true to the original, (even got some real SID sounds in there).

The other.....

Well let's just say it's completely different from the 1st...

Re: Yahama XG compatible module or keyboard..?

Hi Kate, I have had a DB50XG, a MU100R and the awesome SW1000XG which I still have. Razmo is spot on in my opinion... There are still lots of these units about on e-bay and the like. The MU-128 is 128 notes polyphonic across upto 64 different parts with nearly 1,400 instruments and sells for around ...

Re: How do YOU make your music?

Lately, a few people have asked and talked about achieving 'Atmosphere', 'Ambiance' or more simply 'Mood' in the music that we produce. I've been revisiting a lot of music just recently. Some of it, stuff I haven't heard for decades. Anyways... If you want to hear, what I think is, one of the very b...

Re: WIP Ocean Loader 3 Concept Remix

Just to clarify WHERE I'm up to with this 'Project'; WHY I uploaded the Remix in it's current form; HOW it was put together; WHEN it might be ready and WHAT I hoped to get in feedback. Before I started writing my own music for C64 games, I played C64 games... I played LOTS of C64 games and I always ...

Re: WIP Ocean Loader 3 Concept Remix

Mordi wrote:Cool to see the original composer remix his own tunes. As for the tune itself, it sounds cool. Some of the leads sound a bit harsh to me, though. Probably a matter of tastes.
Still W I P yet matey! So, just a rough-cut on the remix.

Just wanted some vibes from people about the concept really.

Re: WIP Ocean Loader 3 Concept Remix

It is difficult to tell a story with music only and the video you added makes it almost an must with the music. the first 60 seconds sounded much like electronic music from the 1960's and feels a bit too old for the 1980's C-64 era :D Is the OL3 remix symbolising the "C64 dies"? What are ...

Re: New tune and thoughts on "Sounding Thin" thread

Have had a productive night and I'm actually really pleased with how it's going. ( kinda gone a bit synth/rush crazy hehe ) That certainly sounds a 'fuller' mix now.. (and sounding nice too!) The bass sound is square wave based and at certain frequencies it will sound thin. it's a great bass-sound ...

Re: New tune and thoughts on "Sounding Thin" thread

What do you do if you get blocked, while making a tune, like you cant do anything else with it, meanwhile its only 30% completed. Simple! Save it! Leave it! Go back when the inspiration returns Analog. This may not be the same for everyone else but for me, it's like a water tap that I don't control...

Re: New tune and thoughts on "Sounding Thin" thread

Andy..... Forget the final mix stuff until the tune is final. When you compose, try just composing the notes. I know that MY way isn't gonna be right for everybody, (hehe! may not be right for anybody) but.... I find that I have 3 distinct phases.... 1). get the arrangement down - notes, harmonies, ...
