Re: Soundcard recommendation ???

God, I so didn't want to do this but........bump! After reading all of the advice here, I still find myself with an issue. The cards recommended here either have major Windows 7 64bit driver issues, or are end of line (as per Analogs findings too) or have latency issues (Xonar). I good solid USB car...

Re: Soundcard recommendation ???

Necropolo - thanks for the great advice and tips (also Razmo). Those do look good products and ones that I'd not really considered. I was just about to buy the Xonar before I posted this, but I've read lots about it's awful latency problems, and there are no plans to rectify it, so the other firms m...

Soundcard recommendation ???

Okay - I know I'm always on here looking for advice, and this is one for me. I want a sound card for my new PC rig and would like some suggestions/advice if possible. I have PCI and PCI-E slots available. The primary use would be to allow low latency use of midi keyboards (I use a EMU X-Board 49) I ...

Re: New remix of Wizardry

Very nice and I agree it sounds fresh and retains the feel of the original. Always been a bit of a favorite with me, although limitations of the tune length make a longer composition difficult. I initially had an idea of incorporating FAIRLIGHT from Mike Alsop as well as they are entirely the same t...

Re: In need of audio / mic recording advice

Thanks for all of the advice guys, it's a great response as always from the "team". Just for point of interest, she won't be singing or playing any instruments, just purely spoken word audio. I think Jeroen has it spot on in terms of offering advice to a none techie, and plus....she lives ...

Re: SID's in remixes

Yeah, this is a subject close to my heart. I love the sound of the sid, and if implemented well it still sounds great. Often I prefer mixes with original sid mixed in, almost list a gentle nod to the roots of the original. I still recall Chris Abbotts first Back in Time Sanxion remix, with odd bits ...

Re: Question regarding my balsa wood models...

You could always give them some "functionality". Try adding a slot and turning them into a money box ? Of course you'd have to figure out a way people could get to their cash as well.

Re: In need of audio / mic recording advice

Check Mahoney's wonderful tutorial: Yes, always a great starting point, but this lady really needs to get the hardware basics right before moving on I feel. Hence the questions relating to pre-amp and soundcards. Also, does her running linux cause a problem too? She has tried using an XLR to pc inp...

In need of audio / mic recording advice

Hi guys Hoping to get some help. I have a friend who is a very talented voice artist. She has done some work and wants to start ramping things up at home. All of her previous recordings and voice over stuff has been in the studio. She has a decent spec PC, alas only running linux. No specialist soun...

Re: Bit off topic but....SlamTilt pinball - Windows 7

Wow ! You guys are the best....let me tell you! Slamtilt now working really well - all colours perfect after I followed the hunch by Analog and Lman. Compatability mode set to WIndows 98/ME and all of the options below that ticked. Thanks to all that took the time to help, but now I have another pro...

Bit off topic but....SlamTilt pinball - Windows 7

Hi Sorry for the off topic-ness. I've always loved SLamtilt by 21st Century since the AMiga days. I have the PC version which flatly refused to run on XP (Windows 98 is the last known working system). I've now upgraded to Windows 7 and thought I'd give it a spin after hearing some old games actually...
