hey there infamuzzo! :) yeah, i also tried synthedit ages back but it felt kinda uninspiring and also i didn't know too much about synth/vsti stuff back then. i find synthmaker to be really intuitive and flexible and you can get down to the core if you need, writing even assembly code , so it's quit...
