Necronom remix

Hi all, Just a quick news update on anyone interested in the R-type inspired Amiga shooter Necronom. I'm currently remixing the intro tune. It's about 70% complete. The style is Tangerine Dream meets Jan Hammer with an added bit of orchestral flavours to the mix. Look out for an upload to Amiga remi...

Re: Sound On Sound '80s session repro'!

Exactly - That gear is hardly old hat. I think the only difference between now and the 80's are the way we record music. We now have the ability to use more FX plugin's and record on hard disk which in 1985 was very expensive and limited but those instruments pictured are still sort after and in vog...

Re: Sound On Sound '80s session repro'!

Thanks for posting the article it takes me back... In 85 a home recording setup as pictured would have cost you quite a bit, midi really was the new tech like the new computers at the time and the DX range of synths reigned supreme. It comes as no surprise that the article summary has an air of back...

Re: Overclocked remix

Like you say it's their site and they can choose what they want which I have no problem with, just disappointed they have to be so choosy about distributing free fan made music. On the plus side I think they do a great job giving feedback and making you push the envelope as it were because there are...

Aargh there isn't enough time!

I got a few ideas (and working on) for remixes but I find there isn't enough time in the day to get it done. As well as work, playing video games like Witcher 3 and soon Fallout 4 just eats up my time! Gone are the days where you'd load up an Amiga or c64 game, play it for an x amount of time before...

Re: Another case of stolen work

People publishing my remixes on YouTube, that's ok. But monetize those videos, that is not ok. Video Game Music Vault is making a lot of money off others work. I have my own channel with those remixes, and I have not monetized them myself because I don't think it's right. I have filed copyright cla...

Re: Another case of stolen work

Yeah there are a few people putting up remixes from RKO on youtube.
Here is one (Remix music) with ads for my MV remix.
My opinion is if it reaches a wider audience then so be it and at least they spelt my name correctly!

Re: Overclocked remix

@mordi
Surprised to see that one of the best re-mixers (if not the best) has also had difficulty in having tunes accepted puts things into perspective about the site and for anyone wishing to submit something.

Overclocked remix

Whoa they are a picky lot those judges down at Overclocked Remix. I've had every submission rejected and not just a no thanks either - it's more along the lines of your work being dissected by a top professional studio musician talking about counterpoint, dynamics and production techniques. Harsh en...

Re: jealousy, bitterness and idiocy

@timmya4000 Sadly there are people who leave negative silly revengeful comments but I don't think it's as bad as it used to be(if you think its bad now check out tunes back in the early 2000's! Those comments could be really harsh!). Maybe more casual listeners back then I don't know? These days lis...

Re: Total Eclipse - Amiga Remix

Thanks Dumper - it was the oboe sound that really sold it to me to get this one finished. Interestingly the bassline in this sid/amiga tune is all in D for about 8 minutes - which makes it sound hypnotic but I was concerned that when it's put against the Eflat and Cm chords it also makes it sound st...

Total Eclipse - Amiga Remix

Here is a simple video for Total Eclipse Main Theme Remix. This is the Amiga remix release that has a different ending to the c64 remix.

Re: Driller

*Update*
Work on the remix has now resumed and all is going as planned. It's a long one though - clocking in at nearly 10 minutes.
Will probably submit a version to RKO and an extended mix for Amiga Remix.

Re: They Stole A Million (The Guvnor video mix)

Thanks Guys.
For anyone who hasn't seen The Sweeney (it is a 1970's hard hitting cop drama set in London) hopefully this video now puts the remix more into perspective of the where I want it to go in terms of overall style.

So Hardware Synths are the best after all....

I've noticed over the last year or so the amount of Hardware synths currently making a comeback. We've even got classic analogue synths being reissued like the Prophet, MS 20 and now Arp Odyssey. Roland have released hybrid soft/hardware synths in the 101 and 303/808 emulation. So is this it, the ev...
