Re: Darn MIDI timing on PCs!

Vince Clarke also complained of Midi timing and has reverted to not using it whether he does these days I don't know. Of course we can also throw midi out of the equation and get back to using our own midi timing in our minds like musicians did before 1982. True. He used CV/Gate and all analogue ge...

Re: Remixing Attempt bad start.

I set up a RAID system (RAID 0, IIRC?) a few years ago for faster disk access for multitracking. The increase in data access was actually minimal but reliability went right out of the window! I ended up doing exactly the same as you have .

Just keep it simple M8, that's my motto. :)

Re: Looking for a SID with arpeggios

[edit] Oh, and Wizball doesn't really have arps in the sense I was thinking (really fast 'wibble' chord arps, y'know) so in that respect, Ocean Loader or the Armalyte stuff probably wouldn't work anyway. To be honest I was in fact searching for the "really fast 'wibble' chord arps", just ...

Re: Looking for a SID with arpeggios

Not being silly here but wouldn't Wizball (with it's already guitar-esque lead) be the most 'Sensible' (geddit?!) option anyway?... I mean, it's pretty damn famous in C64 circles and you kinda have it all right there... [edit] Oh, and Wizball doesn't really have arps in the sense I was thinki...

BMX Kidz High Score?? Simplistic??? It's an incredibly complex tune, both sonically and musically...

Re: Looking for a SID with arpeggios

Yeah - I'd say Galway's 'Ocean Loader' is the most famous (though we used to call them 'wibbles' back in the day). Most interesting and original use of wibbles though goes to Martin Walker for his Armalyte Level Loader music. Such wibbletastic use of wibbles... Ahh, then again if it's famous you're ...

Rob Hubbard laid an egg?
Wait - I thought Galway was God? Oh no - he just has super-human powers, like Michael Jackson.

Muhahaha! What a great idea! I'm on it! *Loads crappest General Midi vst he can find and looks for 'Pan flute' patch* No, I didn't say "Back in Time 1 Re-Remix Compo" :) Hehe! I reckon if you'd called it "C64 Panpipe Classics" K-Tel would have snapped you up there and then! :twi...

Re: Depeche Mode? WRONG!

Fletcher would, er, do the accounts and 'manage'. LOL! Don't forget the all important 'waving arms frantically' at live shows. ;) *edit* Oh and I love Exciter! It clicks and buzzes away, the songs are strong and still sounds totally fresh to me even now. Very electronic, which is just what I want f...

Re: Depeche Mode? WRONG!

Hmm. The more I hear the track, the more it sounds like something 'extra' from Black Celebration. Certainly not a patch on the band's best singles, and a continuation of the 'gap' evident since Wilder quit. As for that video, it's not terrible, but it totally lacks atmosphere. A shame the band's pa...
