Why not let the board hear a preview of the track? I am sure that people here can give some good advice regarding mixing and mastering. That way your track should at least not fail on technical merit. The FAQ that DHS linked to is a good start. There are some really good freeware plugins for masteri...

Speaking of "looper" software, as far as I know ALL sequencers handle audio loops/clips today. Even better, many of the support rex and acidised loops. ALL sequencers can do copy/paste of parts of tracks, which can be used instead of loops. Ok, my point is this. Do not blame the tools if a...

Hardware. Elektron Monomachine and Elektron Machinedrum. The two main sequencers for me. I might use Acid 5 too to fix the final things or perhaps rearrange the audio a bit.

I'm impressed! I've got a vocoder from Paia in the wardrobe where it has been for five years now. The outlook for the coming five years is that it will probably stay there unless someone buys it from me...

jgb - hnnabl

Hi guys! Here's a track that I've been working on for a while. Genre? Eh, electro-breakbeat-techno-ish I think. Gearwise it is the two machines from Elektron that delivers the goods. Only internal fx used, plus a little quick-and-dirty mastering. http://c64.org/~jgb/jgb-hnnabl-master2.mp3 (11 MB) Wh...

Analog-X: With a forum nick like that you should know a bit more about basic analogue sound synthesis. ;) A good start is Sound on Sound's "synth secrets" series that ran over several issues of the magazine. http://www.soundonsound.com/search?url=%2Fsearch&Keyword=synth+secrets&Wor...

Standard disclaimer: This is how it works for me with mastering/mixing 1. Headphones are basically worthless for mixing/mastering. I hear everything too well and cannot judge the levels of the individual sounds in a good way. 2. Whatever speakers I have available, I try to learn how they sound by li...
