Re: The shape of the scene 10 years on
I tend to make remixes for one of two purposes: for a compo for an album project What those activities have in common is they are community oriented activities. The idea of submitting music to vast collections (OCR/RKO) doesn't interest me and the remixes I do submit to these sites usually originate...

I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Re: SID's in remixes
There is a defensible argument in that if someone wanted to hear a SID they'd simply listen to the original; the reason they seek a remix is to hear an interpretation of that .SID - the expectation being it is both musically and sonically different from the original. To me, SID sounds in remixes are...

6 hours is pretty good time for something like that. I've been trying my hand at the particle/fluid simulation in Houdini. Cool stuff.

Re: In need of audio / mic recording advice
You need a pre-amp. However you don't necessarily need a dedicated pre-amp. You can get a small form-factor mixer (e.g. Behringer Xenyx) which will have one or more pre-amps or you can get an audio interface with a built-in pre-amp. Linux makes things tricky because there aren't many manufacturers t...

Re: MacBook Pro + Korg NanoKey + Cubase with plugins?
I prefer the nanoKey over the LPK25; the black keys on the LPK25 are so thin it's difficult to play. The whites/blacks on the nanoKey are small too, but uniformly so, and are harder to miss/misfire as they're more separated.

I do remember Biff getting hit with manure in the first film but I don't remember him saying the "I hate manure" line.

Back to the Future III then? After the duel with Marty the sheriff asks 'Mad Dog' if he has anything to say for himself and he says "I hate manure". But I'm pretty sure that same line was in BTTF 2 as Analog-X described.
