Very '80s! Amazing what computers can help you dish up.

Maybe you could 'retro' master... a thin, narrow-banded sound to match original pop CDs of the time!

Well, that's what I call it. Old days digital was famous for sounding a little brittle, with not too much clarity or low end. Producers often enhanced digital sessions by mastering to tape and CD masters were often just copies of the LP masters.

Classical works would have sounded more natural but early CD was famous for irritating the audiophile.

No Youtube clip comes to mind but a listen to the Adam and the Ants CDs still on sale reveals what I'm talking about.

Mind you, early reviewers still raved: http://www.retrothing.com/2010/01/audio ... p-101.html

You've caught that '80s flavour! It's like I'm right back admiring the old pop art again!
