Thought I'd have a go. I tried a real trumpet once but, as an asthmatic, using a foot pump for blow is a no-go. So let's see what Carol Vorderman has to say about making some paper pipes.

Now this is us. Didn't we improvise stuff in lieu of shop-bought wonders ourselves? I'll try those and sample them.

There's a trumpet here as well: http://www.ehow.com/how_12072496_make-p ... mpets.html

Suitable for children over three, so at least I have a chance.

There's lots of that in there. I think the first one is the better option and well worth a buzz in session. Could blend well with the real harmonicas.

Could even make my own band: http://www.ehow.com/how_4897702_make-fo ... ments.html . This kind of thing was dominant when people were much poorer. Even the National American ballet girls used a cigar box ukelele for some fun in the '20s: http://i.imgur.com/2UKausJ.jpg

That fills my gap. As it were.
