merman wrote:What are you people doing? The first post is clear enough, ignore this thread because the machine did this instead of replying to another thread.

But no, 642 replies later we are still here and still failing to ignore it. I don't know what else I can do to persuade to stop posting here...

What are you talking about? Look at it another way, it's 642+ posts to explain how well we have ignored the thread.

Now, there's some interesting etymology behind that word.

Farmers in the Deep South of America were always out in the sun, working hard. So to have a red neck was a sign of being an important part of the rural community. Nowadays of course it's become an insult, aimed at those with outdated views/politics...

Have an old game named "Redneck Rampage". Otherwise I would have ignored the thread.

Oddly enough, redneck/white collar comedy was popularized by Jeff Foxworthy who has an accent that I believe is associated with a part of Philadelphia. So he's quite a ways from "the South," but it still beats being associated with the Jersey shore!

May I add, as a Geordie, that 'Geordie Shore' is NOT typical of us.

I totally hear you... I was actually born in NJ. When I moved, people asked where I came from. I would say "New Jersey," and they'd say "You mean New Joisey?" and I'd want to punch them. As far as I know, I was the only one in Florida with a C64 so there was definitely contempt.
