Unknown remix

Hi! Every now and then I encounter an old C64 remix file on my hard disk that lacks ID3 info and cannot be found on remix.kwed.org either.

This one here is simply called "Terra (Donne).mp3", which sounds like this is a Terra Cresta remix made by Marcel Donné. But as I said, there's nothing in the database. Can anyone tell me whether this is really by Marcel and what year it was made?

Hmmm Terra Cresta is one of Marcel Donnes favourite tunes and the mixing of that track does sound like Marcel's work......or I could be putting my foot in my mouth.

I remember this from a CD Marcel sent me over 10 years ago :)

I wonder where I got it from. And I wonder even more why it's not in the RKO database. It's an outstanding tune, so Marcel if you're reading this: Make it available to the public!!!

Ok, I have one more:

The only info that's in the ID3 is TITLE=Shadowfire. But who made this and when?

Sounds like one of the Shadowfire BIT 3 beta tracks off the BIT 3 CD-ROM, which would make it "Me and Darren Izzard" in 2000/2001.

Your album version sounds better indeed, but I'll keep this beta version, too. I've gotten used to it over the years. ;-)

There were about 7 beta versions of Shadowfire, it was a bitch to do.

I work on it since a year. It drives me insane

While we're at it: What about this Black Lamp version? Sounds familiar to anyone?

(I always have to overwrite the previous mp3 due to lack of webspace)

That GnG is mine too... this one is from the BIT 1 CD-ROM, I think.

Probably culled from RKO back in the days for being a bit perfunctory: though the lead is nice. A nice port from the original SID. Quite a few of my pre-1997 tracks were yanked from RKO for being a bit simple: at that point such remixes were an achievement, based on the tech of the time and the early stage of the remix scene, but now they sound too similar to the original SID to count as much of a remix (there's the occasional extra part in some, such as drums or another melodic sequence), but people are blase about that now :)

More GnG?

Was done a few years later, and is an alpha (chords at the end are wrong, there's clicking from the JP8080 and the lead is a bit expressionless).

Also, every so often I post a link to:

http://www.c64audio.com/bit4/wizardry2.mp3

Which is Darren Izzard's Wizardry megamix re-recorded by me, and is rather nice, though the drums are quite 2000 (as indeed is the tune, as that's when this recording was made).

I'm slowly working myself thru my old MP3's. Today I've encountered a slightly different version of Black Lamp with the ARTIST tag missing.

Also yours, Chris?

The link is dead but I only ever tried to do a remix of Terra Cresta once and if my memory serves me right it was made somewhere in 1991

Yup. This one was a rerecording of the other one using a nice Analog soundfont for the AWE32.
