It's very good! Marvelous! And it has the feel of the original (except for the missing 1541 rattling ;-))

That's cool indeed.

Just a quick question though....I presume all code is done in Blitz Max? Looking at their site, the coding aspect looks nice and old school and I wouldn't mind taking a closer look. What is the best version to buy to code both 2d and 3d stuff ?

Blitzmax is geared up for 2D out the box, 3D has to be programmed.

Most 3D engines can be "plugged" into MAX with quite a few wrappers knocking around.

Personally for the odd stuff I have done in 3D in MAX I have used MiniB3D - which is free on the Max site.

They have just announced that there will be an open source 3D engine in the next few months for those that like to tinker under the hood.

Max is a nice alternative if you dont want to go the whole 9 yards and learn C++. It recently had multi-threading added for instance.

Tis a nice easy to learn and quick to program language.

I picked up a copy of Blitz Max myself a few months ago, after doing a lot reading and asking STU questions. :)

I picked up and read books on Multi Media Fusion which is a type of GUI type of programming environment, and I figure I probably have more fun with Blitz Max.

The Price is very reasonable.

Now I have to hunker down and start playing and learning it.

Hey Stu.. any recommendations on where to start?

You need to get your basic framework in place first, sprite control, audio etc. Theres a good framework from some of the guys from the retro remkes forum (http://www.muttleyville.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=7)

Start with something simple first, simple and quick. Something like space invaders is a good start.

Dont think you have to get into all the OOP porgramming - you dont - when your more comfortable with the language then start to look at OOP programming (once you do you dont look back tbh)

The blitzmax forums are very helpful so dont feel that your question is too basic - we all start somewhere.

One strange thing I found while playing TRON mode on Player vs. Player:
You know the place where the first bonus life should appear? It isn't there in this mode and I am stuck from then on. Maybe the second player should do something ?

Otherwise AWESOME remake!
