What's your fave C64 orchestral remix?

Hi guys,

Just throwing around some ideas for a future episode of OMAHM - I'd like to do a show focusing on C64 orchestral remixes. If you've got a particular fave C64 remix done in orchestral stylie then please post it in this thread and I'll see if it's suitable for the show. I'm after fully orchestral sounding stuff - not mixed with synths or SID etc.

Cheers chums! :)

Kenz.

An absolute must, the lushishly lush hypothetical Last Ninja credits medley by Markus Schneider :)

More ninja goodness courtesy of FBY: http://www.remix64.com/track/fby/the_la ... _concerto/

Back in Time Live (3?) 's Forbidden Forest?

Good orchestral arrangements need to be done very very well to sound authentic (if synth sourced) and good (if the right instruments are used) and those 3 certainly work for me :)

Glyn R. Brown's "Rastan" would be an obvious choice, as well as aforementioned Markus Schneider stuff. Good examples are on Remix64 v2 Into Eternity as well.

Glyn R. Brown's Times Of Lore from Remix64 Vol.2 still rocks my world :-)

I'm thinking Peter Clarke's "Ocean Loader 3" should be in there somewhere. Mainly because it not JUST a remix but a remastering of his own song.. ( And it's damn good too !! )

Just by the by...

I think it would be awesomeness beyond description if a talented orchestral arranger like Markus Schneider could do an arrangement of the entire suite of music from Beyond the Forbidden Forest!

Peter Connelly's Forbidden Forest from BIT 2 is probably still my favourite - probably in part thanks to my love for the original. :)

I really think Glyn's 'Firelord' stands out. Considering the age of it now, (2002 remix), it still stands as a great arrangement despite the individual instrument quality.
It's a beautiful, sensitive reworking of a classic C64 tune and deserves its place as a benchmark in the evolution in orchestral remixes.

p.s. thanks for the vote Andy :)

And you thought you'd heard everything... (though some may have heard this before, it's not well circulated - it was originally meant for the BIT series).

Kentilla roxx, though I still wanted a piano at the end...

Hmmm. Times of Lore, Stormlord & Thanatos from Remix 64 vol 2, Schneider's Galway Symphony & Supremacy/Myth combo, Miguel F Ettema's 1942 and Delta & WAR on BIT3 are the obvious ones to spring to mind.

When is the next show?!?!

Surprised no one mentioned Firestorm's "Commando" remix! Could have fooled me if someone told me it was from whatever movie Michael Bay is working on.

+1000! That's my fav orchestral remix ever.

I'd also add soundsosound's standalone piano remixes. Not "orchestral" as such but it does have some classical taste.
