SID composer Douglas Fulton contact info?

Post by David Youd »

Does anyone have an email address for Douglas Fulton?

Online information about him is sparse, but I've pulled it all together here.

He did music for the following games:
-----------------------
The Immortal 1991
Zany Golf 1988
Skyfox 1985 (C64)
Music Construction Set 1984 (C64)

He wrote some of the Music Construction Set jukebox songs that play on startup, as shown below:
ALLEGRO - (Sonata in D Major, First Movement by W.A. Mozart)
SCHERZO - (Scherzo from Midsummer Nights Dream by Felix Mendelsohn)
TURKEY - (Traditional)
OPERA - (by Douglas Fulton)
TEARS ON MY 64 - (by Douglas Fulton)
BUMBLEBEE - (Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov)
PAT THE HAT - (by Douglas Fulton)
CANON - (Canon in D Major by Johannes Pachelbel)
FANFARE - (by Douglas Fulton)
MINUET - (by Douglas Fulton)
INVENTION NO. 8 - (Two Part Invention No. 8 by J.S. Bach)
RACKET - (by Douglas Fulton)
RAVE - (by Douglas Fulton)

(This is the kind of trivia LaLa would probably be interested in.)

There are very few references to him online:

http://www.musickit.org/history.html

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22Do ... DU&rnum=31

Anyway, if anyone has his email address, please send to david@youdzone.com. Thanks!
(My apologies if this kind of query is inappropriate for this forum)

I guess no one knows how to contact Mr. Fulton. I'll try usenet instead. (I'd be fun to have him do one of the composer interviews occasionally hosted here.)

If anyone is interested, here's the playable (via a plugin) Sibelius sheet music for Doug's Skyfox (c64 version) using his original 3 voice arrangement: http://www.youdzone.com/music/skyfox.htm
The base line occasionally switched between the voices, so it took a bit of straightening out on the sheet music. Had I transcribed this properly, there would be double sharps when appropriate, but I was lazy (proper "spelling" of accidentals can be a nuisance at times).

I can't wait to assemble a home recording environment. This tune is going to be challenging (i.e. fun) to rearrange, as there is already a lot of dense musical content there.

I dunno about Mr. Fulton, but a few years ago I tracked down Louis Ewens, programmer and musician on Brøderbund releases, in particular The Music Shop (or is it The Music Studio?) and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.

Mr Ewens is still active in the computer industry but had no memories of getting royalities or credits for the Music Shop demo song Kajun Klog covered in Gremlin Graphics "Bounder". The programmer and musician behind the game was also tracked down, and they could not remember borrowing a demo song neither.
