Richard Joseph

Post by madfiddler »

Guys and Gals,

I'm very very sorry to announce that Richard Joseph passed away this afternoon.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year, in France and was undergoing chemo but was very weak.

He slipped into a coma earlier today but sadly his body gave up earlier this afternoon.

Rest in Peace Richard. You were an inspiration mate, a fab musician and person.

Mark.

He was one of the nicest guys I've ever met during my years of doing C64-related stuff. He had all the time in the world for his music, he was dedicated and enthusiastic, and he had a moral centre all too rare these days.

The world has lost a gem.

One of our best has fallen. I'm gonna miss him - didn't know him anywhere near as well as I wanted, but he was gentility, and he was passion, and he was talent.

The world's a poorer place today.

All I can say is that I'm extremely grateful I got the opportunity to work with this man on several projects over the last years... I cannot believe he's gone now. Farewell, Richard - thank you for the beautiful music, and thanks for being a great guy! You will deeply be missed...

Im absolutly gutted by this news ... the scene, our scene has lost one of it's leaders.

May he rest well now.

I just knew him by he's work....Barbarian, Barbarian II, Cauldron II, Defender of the Crown just to name a few.

Sad news indeed.

I feel really sad. Richard wasn't just a C64 musician, he was also a member of an influential 70s prog rock band who did pretty well (CMU). I have the CD with both albums on, and Richard joined them for the second album. He actually sung most of the songs and wrote a fair few of them too.

In the 80s we loved his SID music, and at the BITLive events he was always very enthusiastic. If one shot sums up how much he enjoyed them it simply has to be this one I took - a classic memory if ever there was one:

He was only showing what we were all thinking about Bouff, bless! :)

RIP Richard, we'll all miss you.

It's how Richard would want to be remembered :)
