C64-, Amiga-tunes in commercial songs.

Post by JohanE »

Krazy Sandi - Insanity = Thundercats?
I heard 'Insanity' with Krazy Sandi and thought I've heard it somewhere before. Krazy Sandi - Insanity
The melody begins after around 2 min. It sounds a bit like thundercats and some more tunes maybe.
I have heard more songs that sounds very inspired by computer music. One sounded exactly like the turrican 2-tune freedom but shazam did not find it.
Do you know of more songs that are "mixes" of old computer songs?

Let's get Timbaland out of the way first. He made a song for Nelly Furtado called "Do it", which illegally used GRG's cover of "Acidjazzed Evening".

There is also "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation which used one of the tunes from Whittaker's "Lazy Jones".

I think Rob's "Thundercats" melody and chords are sufficiently generic that they could be just coincidence...
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?

That could probably be "Level One" by Scooter. This was an official cover by the way, with Chris Hülsbeck properly credited as composer.

Just stumbled upon a tune that I think samples one of the Lazy Jones tunes? Not quite sure.

Whilst we're on, how about this krazy korean woman. First highlighted in the FB page for Rob Hubbard music, she rips off entire SID songs by various artists. Singing (if that's what you can call it) over the top and dancing away with not a copyrigyht concern in the world. I understand Chris knows about her and that there is some ridiculus notion by youtube that SHE owns the copyright to these tunes (and not the original SID artists). ANyway - it's laugh out loud funny, until you realise she's been selling 'her' music on itunes and other sites.

There's other stuff like her store and you can even look up the lyrics (which I heartily suggest you do, as they're hilarious)

If anyone has updates on any action being taken against her (i.e. YOUTUBE taking her stuff down for copyright violation) I'd be interested to hear.
