Aside from what already happened and what was said or done, it's quite saddening to see racist remarks against Timbaland tainting a rightful dispute in several instances (luckily not here).

Some people have a racist agenda and I don't think they really care about the ripping-story at all. They are just there to take advantage of the situation.

That's definitely sad, Analog.

Back to the Timbalnd vs Tempest page, this one was just posted:

And so was this one:

The first one is kinda cool, I guess that's the kind of things you do if you don't have a day job ;)

I wish they'd get around to writing letters to the actual record company and Publishing company though. Nothing will happen until that step is taken, because no company will just offer something without being forced to: even with bad publicity, for fear it will prejudice their legal case later or be interpreted as an admission of liability. Basically: you don't ask, you don't get, even if it's just a formality...

k_rostoen: Thanks for the links...the first one is a great song/video.

Chris Abbott: Yeah I would love to see some sort of closure to this story. Interesting how Timbaland Fan Sites have opted to censor this story and not allow anyone posting any thoughts and comments on it. So much for free speech.

Well, it's easy to lose sight of what the movement is trying to achieve, in all the excitement.

What needs to be achieved:

1) Public Acknowledgement of authorship
2) Public Apology
3) Monetary settlement

Not humiliation via the media (although that may be valuable in order to achieve the 3 things above).

As for free speech: well, that's a political thing, but it doesn't necessarily apply to forums: or rather, you've got the freedom to say something, and they've got the freedom to delete it. As long as you don't suffer persecution from posting that opinion, you've exercised your rights, I guess. There's nothing to say how long that free speech should be allowed to be published for, or how many people it should be allowed to reach.

Hey all you with "silk ears"!

Could you please check if the Acid Jazzed<>Block Party ringtone is from original amiga MOD (starting from 1min 40sec place) or from GRG's SID version.

To me, it sounds like Timbaland used Amiga mod in that ringtone.
And please, really CHECK it out before answering!

I'm going to answer on the theoretical implications if you're right: that would be really odd, since it would imply that they had got the MOD, altered the bassline, and then searched out the SID: which implies a heck of a lot of knowledge of the song, rather than the current theory of "they only knew the SID".

Anyone with "silk ears"? Anyone? :)

I thought this issue had been settled already. I was pretty sure that the .mod was used in the ringtone and the .sid in furtados song.

News to me. The analysis I've heard compares the SID to a phase inverted version of the ringtone to prove only the drums remain. Or something like that.

You're probably right. The more I listen to the ringtone the more it sounds like the SID-version.
