For personal reasons, I'm with you all the way on that one, Tonka. Maybe whatever happens with the digital release/whatever, have an online "tip jar" where all the proceeds go to Macmillan?

Nice article, Waz! I've been looking around for the CMU album, but not found it. I'm going by the "weird records"-shop down the street in a moment when I'm out for a morning walk, so I'm popping in there to see if they have it (which wouldn't surprise me, though finding it in the mess will probably be a challenge).

The original vinyl album is worth shedloads now. In fact the 2008 Rare Record Price Guide lists "Space Cabaret" as worth £40, so it's gone up in value since I wrote the article.

"Space Cabaret" is the only one with Joseph on. "Open Spaces" was before he joined the band, just to make that clear. However, the now deleted CD issue which had both albums on (minus "Chantecleer" from "Open Spaces") is getting bloody hard to find.

That said...

CMU CD on eBay at the moment!

Snag it now for that price if I were you.

They didn't have the CD (at the weird record shop), and I couldn't be bothered to go throug their chaotic vinyl collection (especially since I was all sweaty after a long walk, and hadn't even had breakfast yet).

May have to snag it of eBay.

"Space Cabaret" limited edition

There also seems to be a limited edition papersleeve version of the "Space Cabaret" album around (Japan Import, Label: Strange Days, POECD 1086). I have recently found a copy on Ebay and it was described as an exact replica of the original TRA album there. I'm not sure if this item will be easier or less expensive to obtain than the See For Miles 2CD set, but I still thought you might find that interesting...

Jan,

What it probably means is that the Japanese import CD comes with a sleeve and foldout similar to the original release - they tend to that often (did a wonderful job with the Led Zeppelin I to IV issues this way).

Anyway, seems like the "new and used" Amazon section could be your friend too:

I only found out about this today, but I read the entire thread, and it's very unfortunate that I never got to meet the guy. :( Either way, my condolences go out to his family, even if it's a bit late now.

Kenz and I held a small raffle on the last day of RV ... and I'm happy to say we collected about £40 which will be making it's way to the charity via Kenz.

Kenz Im sure will let us know the exact amount ... and pics as soon as I get them of the winner and his Zzapp print.
