Machinae Supremacy to major label

From their website:

"Machinae Supremacy has signed with the Finnish major record label Spinefarm (a subsidiary of Universal Music). The website has been revamped according to the wishes of our new corporate overlords, hence this new outlook."

Given that Spinefarm has quite big metal bands like Nightwish and Children of Bodom, I hope they'll promote MS well too. I think MS is Spinefarm's first band outside of Finland, so it'll be interesting how it turns out.

It seems that the "new look" ordered by the corporate overlords is more metal (and quite a big darker) than the previous look at least. Anyway, all the best for MS and I hope they'll end up in Finland for some gigs again ;)

Well, they finally achieved their goal :)

I'll bet going it on their own and getting "Redeemer" out did the job for them.

Excellent. Good luck to you guys.

... and just imagine the bragging rights this will bring us. After they reach number one on the world Album charts you put on the Sidology series when your friends are over and say "Psst, I've been listening to Machinae Supremacy for years" :)

MONSTOROUSLY LOUD LIVE, so much so I had to miss their gig at Gossips and move into the other room... the stuff i've heard on slayradio since has really impressed me; because it's been clear and hasn't attempted to bust my eardrums  Power to 'em :D Well done chaps !

Hmm, a bit of a straitjacket though. If the first and/or second albums disappoint the record company they could find themselves unable to record or write songs because the record company won't let them (because they'd be spending its money) but they can't do it for anyone else (since they're under contract).

Happens all the time: happened to George Michael, Alison Moyet, Steve Brookstein... eventually someone sells on the record deal like a football contract, but until that happens things get unpleasant.

I hope that doesn't happen to them and that they get platinum albums and stadium tours :)

:butthead:

[edit] And the other thing is that with a five album deal, they can't ever renegotiate it if they get to be the biggest thing on the planet [/edit]

That's great for MS, I wish them good luck (they'll need it - I totally agree with Chris. In the time you'll take for making 5 albums there can happen a LOT)

A Note about Prince tho: His record deal "Unpleasantness was the reason for all that "AFKA Prince"/"Brian" stuff. (Well I pronounce that Symbol "Brian" anyways)

Here's hoping that doesn't happen to MaSu. (they could always rebrand as Silicon Maiden if it does...)
