Well I've tried maincoon cats, but they are a bit too heavy for my liking and tend to give a very muffled sound - completely lacking in top end detail, IMO. Also, the cables that came with mine are totally non-standard (not to mention furry) and took quite a bit of brute force to get them to plug into a mini-jack output, which just resulted in a very high pitched screeching noise.

Nice and warm though, I'll give them that...

I just bought myself some earbuds from M-Audio. The IE-10s, they are the cheaper ones. And i'm glad I did'nt invest more for the 20, 30, or 50s...
- Hard to place to have a good sound
- Hard to place to have a symetric sound
- Hard to move when they are in place...
- Sound is too hot, lacks highs, not giving a flat response
- Not suitable for long studio works
- They destroy your ears anyway...
- Cabling is too rigid
-/+ LOUD!... you can melt your ears if you dont check the volume...
+ You get an attenuator to prevent ears melting...
+ Good package, different plugs provided
+ Good isolation from external sounds

I guess they will only be usefull for the mp3 player...

I'm really frustrated that I paid so much for these things... If you plan on buying this, make sure you can test them before...

I use two sets of headphones. The primary ones are a couple of Sennheiser HD280 Pro's:

They are very comfortable, and you hear absolutely nothing (well, almost nothing) from the outside world when you have them on, and they leak very little to the outside world. And I rarely get sweaty ears from them. They have fairly good and clear sound, but sometimes I have a hard time hearing some minor differences on the lower frequencies. Dunno if it's my hearing that is damaged or whatever, so I use these to proof listen:


They're not as comfortable as the HD280 Pro's, but they do the trick for proof listening.

Now are the Sennheiser Pro series, geared towards studio work? Or just Higher Quality CD/Music Listening?

The 280Pro's are, I suspect, built for DJing considering the amount of noise they cancel out. Some 30 or so dB I think it was. On Sennheiser's home page, they are listed under both the Professional DJ and Professional Monitoring sections.

I find them quite handy when you record vocals. The mic usually picks the music up from the headphones, but with these it doesn't.

Thanks, I've ruled out the Ear Bud types for Monitor Type headphone purchase. I will for sure look at the Sennheiser Pro Series..

What you get if you are lazy and don't have that much money:

Thomson HED 221

Certainly not the best sound but what the heck for 5 EUR.

Those IE-10 earbuds are not my main headphones, I use the Sennheiser HD535 since a couple of years



Open ears, you can have them on your head all day long. Their only problem is the cables... very fragile and way too expensive to replace.
