Wow. This is amazing.

For a lot of this tune, I think of Andreas Vollenweider. He's a Swiss musician that plays an electro-acoustic harp. Your choice of harp sample is near identical to some of his work. Great choice of instrument, and great use of layering.

Did I also hear a blaster beam? :confusion: :D

I see why it's charting so high. Incredible job, Razmo.

Sorry for the late answer...
First of, thank you for your feedback, very much appreciated :)

Actually I did not know of this Vollenwieder undtil everyone started talking about him :? ... I just love the sound of the harp in general, and found that it fit this tune perfectly.

About that "Blaster Beam"... erm, what's that?
The low bellish sound is in fact a layering of two sounds... a very low "boom" from a drumsample, and a low bellish sound made on the KORG Z1 synthesizer...

For the track I used:

E-mu E5000 Ultra sampler (the harp, sound FX and tambourine)
Yamaha FS1R (the female choir sound, this is synthetic, no samples)
KORG Z1 (the bellish boom)
Elektron Machinedrum (the rhythmic parts)
KORG Wavestation SR (the bass part)
Oberheim Matrix-1000 (the egyptian synth part)
E-mu Morpheus (the strange bellish FX in the late rhythmic part)
T.C. Electronics D-Two (delay FX)
T.C. Electronics M-One (reverb FX)

That's about it...

It's an electronic instrument, consisting of a long beam having several strings strung on it with guitar pickups below them. They can be picked with anything from guitar picks, fingers, even pipes or other objects. The guitar pickups on this instrument can be moved to alter the sound.

It was used in Star Trek: The Motion Picture to create the "voice" of V'ger.

Shadowhunter:

Well, I know the sound now that I saw the clip, but no, it's definitely not the same sound... it has resemblances, but the one I used is more "bell'ish"... The Beam sound reminds me a bit more of Jarre's huge synth sound from "rendevous"... which I believe he played on the ELKA Synthex synthesizer.... I believe he actually played those tones from his Laser Harp...

But interresting info nonetheless! :D

Glad you like the tune btw... never in my wildest dreams had I thought it would be recieved as well as it have... it's a very odd piece of mine  ... it started out as a small Halloween project only... one of the greatest challenges was that the original SID tune is very short... so I had to figure out how to make it longer, but not boring...
