Cool Device... Like Tonka I'd have to sell a few things to buy this... By the times it arrives here it will be the same price I paid for my SidStation around $700-$750

299 EURo for standard and 399 for Studio Version... Neither come with SID Chips... so I guess you need to buy a SID from another source?

299 Euro is about $436 Canadian which isnt that bad... but the Shipping and once it arrives here the customs and all will bump that to the $600 mark.

I'm pre-ordering one. This'll get me jump-started on my planned 8-bit studio. :)

Well... My personal opinion is still, that the MIDIBOX SID is way better than the harsid, when it comes to the engine... I've had the Hardsid, and the Hardsid Quattro in the past, and they are superb for playing back the old tunes, and have several different revisions of the SID Chip to play those tunes with...

One of the problems with the synth engine for me was that the handling of the 8580 R5 SID chip was bad, since the filter was programed logarithimcally, while the 6581 SID was done linearly... that made bass sounds weak on the 8580... This seem to have been corrected on this new device, which is a great improvement...

Another was the envelope... a good analog sounding envelope have a logarithmic decay and release phase, and the HardSid was linear.... again; basses benefit a lot from logarithmic decays on envelopes... I tried to tell this to the creator, but they just ignored this... Thorsten did not on the MIDIBOX SID... he listens to requests.

Nonetheless, I might get one of these solely to playback original tunes and do some sampling in the future... it's a nice device, and surely a hell of a lot better than the Elektron SID Station.

Awesomeness!

I've not received a "your unit has shipped" mail yet though, so I guess I'm not in the first batch. But I'm eagerly awaiting it!

I've secured a couple of SID chips so far. They're not tested yet, but I hope they'll be fully functional.
