SOME NEWS THAT MIGHT INTEREST YOU ALL!!

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/11 ... brary.html

My demo montage has been edited and extended:

I' m still struggling to come to terms with the shock of hearing a 70 year old instrument that sounds like something 40 years it's junior!!

Many thanks for your kind emails and responses - it really helps give me the energy to continue restoring this amazing beast - albeit with slightly less mains hum than yesterday!!....

Cheers,

Dan.

I provided Hollow Sun with the first raw material yesterday evening as a "dry run" to try and determine the best way to approach sampling this beast - they have assembled the first test patch - here is a demo of it :)

SAMPLE NOVACHORD "BAIL CHORDS" FOR REMIX64/AMIGA REMIX!

I have also decided to put together something exclusive (not to mention a -fastastically- rare!!) to Remix64 / Amiga Remix as I -adore- this scene. I will post a small set of "bail chords" as used in countless Tracker modules in the near future.

I know Laurens Hammond was a genius but this machine is decades ahead of its time and it sounds truly amazing with a character of its own. Thanks for sharing this with us Mr. Wilson!

Well... is this something you have a part of then?

And then if yes; is this why we only get "Chords" from it for free?

Seems like a good idear though, to "save" the machine's sound by making a virtual, though it'll never be the same I guess... Anyway, I don't use software and multisampled sounds anymore, so I don't really care :)

Hmmm... some people are never satisfied! Well... let's just say that there are certain contractual obligations!

To be fair Steve has a real knack for capturing the authentic sound of a vintage synth - he's doing a bloody good job of this one and so it's not going to be that different - one thing is for sure you won't have to worry about 163 potential tube failures in your studio!!

I've been playing with her "Resonators" today... I just adore the sound of the filters on this ancient monster....

He he... maybe I said it in a "wrong tone", it was not meant to be negative... I think it's fine that you all get some decent payback from this beast! ... afterall I guess it ain't cheap to restore not the less buy this thing.

I just had a feeling some of this was connected, and I guess my assumptions were correct  ... when I wrote what I did, I did it with a smile on my lips

Now that's really interresting... now I'm waiting for a singe-channel external Novachord Filter clone device to plug whatever sound source I've got through :) ... guess it would be impossible to even find the components needed for something like that

We made a quick, off the cuff, video of the 1/4 ton beast in action on New Years Day:

A professional IPTV mini-documentary and a magazine article for two major music magazines are planned later in the year but details are a little sketchy at the moment.
