winamp does it too, but its a proper git to use.

go into your options there and change the output to diskwriter and then press play......wait for about 2 weeks and then tada...one wav'ed sid
ya'll need to trim it up though.

also sidamp very usefull for picking out individual channels on sids.
again if u go into options and then find the sid amp in input you can set the mixer to play only one channel.....then if u use the direct write you can record that single channel.

hope this helps in someway too and look forward to hearing your work :-)

oh and seeing as no one else has

Well, you could also consider looking into SID2MIDI.... The program converts the .sid file to standard midi format and then you can import it into Reason...

That's the one I use as well, but that has already been kinda suggested, don't you think? Nothing wrong with alternatives...

there no real alternatives for me, sorry....

sid2midi is quite cool, michael schwendt does a real good job on it...
but you know about sid2midi faults, somtimes getting the wrong notes...
you can ask markus schneider and putzi 'bout this.

anyway, i prefer the ear2midi version 'cause if you really want to
learn something 'bout a sidtune, you had to rip the tune into pieces
and after getting all the different notes, sildes, arps.....ect. you know
how the tune works and get a feeling for it.

as always i speaking for myself, i don't really care about how a artist
getting the remix together, but i care 'bout good remixes with soul...

Very helpful bunch of people we got here it seems! I'm gunna be tryin all those out.............I wanna be able to convert and still keep the original sound of the .sid's.......I'm into making kind of "dirty-electronica" type stuff, so hoepfully i'll be able to bring something new to the site! Thanks everybody!

I now feel like a twit!

Okay - 10 minutes looking on Google for ear2midi and then after getting nothing it finally hits me *CLICK*

Been looking at sid2midi myself - just the demo. While I like the fact that it pulls the tune out, it does have some issues with the bends, and certainly isn't probably - imho - worth it if you really want to get the "feel" of the piece... Been working slowly (Even so) on Barbarian (should have picked a easier first song), and while the first 90 seconds of barbarian sound okay, the midi is certainlly missing something, and feels... wrong somehow.

So back to ear2midi myself ... now I know what it is :P

Not true, but you do need the right settings and a lot of work to the resulting file. Done right, you can capture the feel exactly.

yeah, you're right chris.... but i think it's sometimes it's faster to do
a remix by ear2midi, 'cause it takes a long time you need to set
sid2midi to the right settings and tweak the output file...

but that's my opinion....

Not if you've been doing it for 9 years :)
