Re: Remake suggestion: Netherworld
Why not do it yourself? You'll come across great Kontakt guitar, orchestral or drum packs inside magazines, given patience, while the SID2MIDI applet can make quick work of half the conversions with no real extra work. Goddammit, just Google for a bunch of good free stuff, plus the free Kontakt play...

Re: Sound On Sound '80s session repro'!
Yup, it's the production values possible with PCs which are the most obvious quantum leaps. But the gear there can still compliment the newer things quite happily, if they still have unique or relevant qualities. I think even SOS fall into the trap of saying 'Oooo, isn't it fiddlier on the old stuff...

Re: Sound On Sound '80s session repro'!
You're welcome. At last the past meets me in the middle with these anniversaries! If I was back in the day at my age now, I would have plumped for the cheaper recording solutions using a smaller tape deck and the Commodore 64. Mind, even with all that on offer, I would never have done anything with ...

Sound On Sound '80s session repro'!
Buy this issue. With other special anniversaries, it does seem life as we know it began in '85: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov15/articles/leader-1115.htm For their 30-year anniversary, they even recreated a home recording session using only the old gear. Rather they than me. sos.gif Not surpris...

Re: What are you playing right now?
I have been getting back into some classic Mario, having found it and a Wii at a car boot sale for £10. Damn good thrifting. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/12144745_1062723663779565_225255098034091600_n.jpg?oh=8ee68fb2e19b7554b88e70ef0c9e03e0&oe=56C64432 And for those...

Re: Aargh there isn't enough time!
I've long since lost my desire to sink quality time into video games, barring Super Mario Wii and some others. These days, picking up a second hand game like Medal Of Honour Rising Sun, I can find myself using an Action Replay disc to dip into levels across the game and play more like the old arcade...

Oh yeah and there's the GO MICRO utility as well: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8084
It even has a backwards voice and split keyboard, just like Jarre!
But it is rather crap though, unlike him. Better for sampling.

Oh, cor!
In that case, is there anyone willing to code a SID-playing, Koala pic slideshow for me? Yup, I'm putting my own doodles to SID now, using SID Wizard.
In the New Year, I'll have money.

Re: Reaping the Ebay harvest
You take that back! There's a bit of the 90s as well....... And a little of Y2k-era. :) I like living in the past now some truly outstanding stuff's out at boot sale prices. And also new things too, with £20 for inkjet printers, or Blu Ray players for £30 fresh. I'm very sure VHS will enjoy a retro ...

Re: Reaping the Ebay harvest
The charity shops are still good places for a pile of stuff. In the past fortnight, I spent £75 on a stack of Laserdiscs, VHS bits, records and the rest you see here, excluding the telly and stuff actually in the drawers. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/p350x350/10440...

Re: Reaping the Ebay harvest
Well I dunno. Guitar Hero World Tour came with one in its drums and that was for the PS2. This does seem to take things a step further, along with that real MIDI guitar for the PS3 I mentioned before. Next, a format I've neglected 'til now, as it was a bit crap even before it was launched: Video CD....

My easy music article published in COMMODORE FREE.
I finally scraped something together about the kind of bits I've inflicted on you lot these last few years. CHROME and FIREFOX are two browsers I know of which can display the PDF and play the MP3s.
