I think quadraSID is a real nice VST and you get a real bang for the buck - $59. Very light on the CPU also. No messing with MIDI and hardware, just pops up in a window sounding great. Only by playing with the demo you come up with real nice pulse-basses, arp-chords and hubbard leads, presets leads ...

Yes, today I would have chosen a 990. The 800 is a hog and using a synth-librarian you will work it quite efficiently. The downsides were SYSEX and it was only usable in solo mode. What synth is on the first post? I'm totally off nowadays when it comes to synths. Haven't looked around for hardwarest...

Hehe, FT2, those were the days... I'm stuck with tracker-style editing so I used Madtracer for the tunes on the CD and now I use Renoise. If we were given these tools when we where young... we would fall off of our chairs (swedish figure of speech). There is practically nothing to ask for in Renoise...
