Where can I get SID plugin for Winamp3?

Make that 11 people. Sidamp is crap and old, unless there's a new version. Just download Sidplay 2 for Windows instead.

I'm still running Winamp 2.78c with Sidamp 1.33. Sure, Sidplay2/W may be better than Sidamp - but I can't be arsed to use one player for mp3s a different one for SIDs.

I have Winamp 2.91 and Sidamp 1.33 but still use Sidplay2 often. I guess it's why my PC is often running about as fast as it takes to do a full defrag :D

I totally agree with Jan about Winamp3 though. It's pants (or bobbins as Waz might say) :)

That's why they made winamp 2.x avaiable (again) for download.

3 is total crap.

It could be good only to play a sid with some korean dude karaoking over it :)

cheers.

Indeed, I'd use that word as an understatement where Winamp3 is concerned. I downloaded it once, installed it, used it and thought like Butthead: "what the hell is this crap?". Bah.

Winamp 2.80 works fine for me, and of course (if you really want to) you can use the very outdated SIDamp plugin. Note that really it's not up to date at all, it doesn't handle anything real C64 compliant (such as RSIDs in the newer versions of HVSC), the emulation is based on the old libsidplay1 libraries (which are very old now also) and on lots of SIDs it sounds not so good.

Someone should contact Simon White (Sidplay2 library author) and try to program a better Winamp plugin that at least uses Sidplay2 emulation, if you ask me.

As a side note, Nullsoft has now completely dropped support for both Winamp 2.x and 3.x. Instead, they have released Winamp 5.0 (2+3) which is supposedly a direct replacement for both the old versions. The old Winamp 2 plugins should work with Winamp 5.0, so anyone trying the SID Amp plugin might want to check out this new one.

Thanx
The SidAMP hasn't been updated for almost 5 years. It's not cycle-accurate, and doesn't play RSID's. I suggest you download Sidplay2 for Windows instead:

Sidplay2 has better emulation too.

If you _must_ use Winamp, you could try out an alternative plugin:

I use Winamp 5 beta, and it works fine with the SidAmp plug-in. I also use StreamRipper plug-in for Winamp2, and it too works fine with v5.

A full version has now been released, but I have yet to test it. Should be as great I recon. =)
