Post by HeadingtonBard »

Turn to Page 54 in the September 2005 - Issue 178 of PC Format and find the C64 Take-away listed at number 8 in the Sounds to go section ! ;)

Excellent news! :D

Their website doesn't mention the September issue yet, so I'm guessing subscribers get their copy early (same thing with loadsa mags here in .dk)

You wouldn't happen to own a scanner, would you ?

Thanks a bundle, dude.

Oh, if you resize the image to 1024 x 634 pixels and save it in GIF format it shrinks to 280Kb. Might save you a bit of bandwidth.

For those of you that have trouble with the link the text reads:

"C64 Takeaway (http://podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=4994)
The C64 podcast is filled with music from legendary games and remixes of C64-inspired tunes"

Don't get me wrong, I'm well happy that the podcast gets some press (Andew, did Retro Gamer ever print the blurp Chris sent your way?) and hopefully gets more people into consuming remixes. But it's obvious that the guy found it through the Podcastalley directory and didn't folow the link to the show site and printed that URL instead.

Plus what's this about "remixes of C64-inspired tunes"?

I sent my blurb directly to Martyn Carroll, editor. Who promptly ignored it.

Accuracy? From a computer journalist? Now you're just being unreasonable ;-)

I've resized and coverted it to GIF now ! It's under 1 MB but should still ok on the Bandwith ! :)

Aww shucks! And I went to the trouble of keeping it at the same res (@300dpi) and dropped it from 4.24M to 823k using the same process for my RESTORED.whwan.com project for old 8-bit mags.

Of course, I coudl've done a better job if I had the uncompressed image ;)

Don't get me started on the current situation at RG. I've got a backlog of stuff here, and I wanted to do an update on the excellent article Adam Dawes did on the C64 music scene... Doesn't look like it will happen now.

Of course, you should never say never... Retro Gamer is coming back thanks to Imagine Publishing!
