Video about the happening

Post by k »

Would be really great to have a video about the happening afterwards since I can't make it :(
Preferably as divx of course to have a good quality..

If there ever will be a next similar meeting, ask machinae supremacy to play there. They've made a few really good remixes of old c64 tunes :)
Check the machinae supremacy links out if you're unsure whether they have the skills to perform in such an event :)

The BITLive organisers already did back in 2002, and Machinae kicked ass at BITLive 3 (London, June 2002). They included Giana Sisters in their set.

Having spoken to them afterwards, they're a really nice bunch and actually asked me before using some of the live pics I took of them for their site, so that scores them more brownie points.

Are there CD's that have video footage of the earlier BITLive happenings?
(I'm quite new to the scene ;)

Is it possible as someone has already mentioned to get a video/dvd of the upcoming Brighton concert (or any previous concerts) ?

The format doesn't really matter, as long as the quality of sound is at least fair/good.

At the Brighton Centre there are about a dozen windows high up looking onto the stage which will be perfect to setup a video camera and leave running.

I've been up there and the view is awesome. :P

Also, this could be another way to maximize potential revenue for the organizers.

Going digital.

Post by StudioX64 »

I was planning on taking my digital video with me to Brighton, however I guess it depends on whether Chris allows us "norms" :) to take our own footage, or if he already has plans for a proper filming.

We're still finalising policy on that one, but there is going to be a proper filming team there, and it would be quite offputting to be faced with 50
video cameras in the audience.

I think we'll probably let people bring their video cameras who

(a) let us know they're doing so (maybe we'll issue a special pass with
the tickets)

and

(b) work with us in terms of agreeing how the footage will be used.
After all, some of it may be good extra material for a DVD.

What we don't want is for the concert to be presented badly by poor
quality bootleg film.

I was hesitating to confirm this since I was worried that
people would just sit on their asses waiting for the DVD instead
of visiting the event and being there for this historic occasion:
which of course would ruin the DVD since the crowd wouldn't be big
enough, and I'd have a financial debacle on my hands.

I can't state strongly enough that this event is a huge risk for me:
and if too many people stay at home, then I won't be able to afford to
do this again.

I know it's a big step to come to Brighton, but if this isn't worth it, what is?

Years from now when the poverty of today is forgotten you'll be sitting there wishing you were at Brighton and that you'd taken a risk to do something really worthwhile. Even today I regret not going to see
JMJ at Wembley, not knowing it might be the last chance to see him while
he was good :)

*sigh* I'm preaching to the converted here, I know, because I can't think
of many people reading this who aren't coming...

This is the true stress of organising Back in Time Live... as Dr. Future
will know :)

Of course, "my wife won't let me", "I've got to look after the children",
and "I've got to go to a wedding/funeral" are all valid excuses :)

Well chris, I hope the ticket sales are going well. Me personally - I cant wait to be there, im already counting down the days - 38 to go as of 5/8/03. And to be able to buy a dvd of the event afterwards would be a great idea!!!! Makes memories last FOREVER!!!!

Isn't it a valid excuse not being able to fly there from Finland due to financial issues? :(

Well, you did ask...

If that isn't what "credit" is for, I don't know what is...!

It's a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: life is about things like this:
real experiences that you've always wanted to do... and making it happen
because you're not going to let life dictate to you what you're going to do.

FYI:
I just added up how much this thing is costing me: over £7000.

To itemise (and this isn't even the full list):
Venue hire: £1500.00
PA and Lighting (and big screen for PPOT): £2000
Camera Crew: £1000.00
Event Setup and tickets: £250.00
PPOT Travel: £550.00
Other accommodation for crew: £500.00
Commodore Scene Stand: £250.00
Remix workshop stand: £250.00
Equipment Hire: £250.00
Other composer travel expenses: £1000.00

... and probably loads of incidental expenses.

Given I'm prepared to take a financial risk like this (with no guarantee
I'll see the money back) I think the fans could stand to meet me
halfway on this one.

I can't really afford this either, but it's the only time we get to do this,
so I'm damn well making it happen regardless of the consequences,
and cutting no corners on making it the concert we've all been dreaming
of for years.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that unless we get over 400 paying
people there, I'm reduced to trying to get the money back from CD
sales and hardware sales, and possibly sales of the DVD later on.
And I'd be extremely surprised if there were 400 people there. Pleased,
but surprised.

So, sorry for the semi-rant, but if you want to be there, then be there.
You can make it happen if you want it bad enough. The only thing that
would stop you is more important commitments to other people you love.
Family and friends are more important than anything.

But for the wife and twins, I would have been at BIT Live Germany
supporting Dr., and I still feel guilty I couldn't be there.

Well said, Chris. I felt guilty as sin for not coming to the last Bitlive's! - I made sure this time, I will be there!.... I followed Chris's rule, I decided to take my wife along with me :)
